How is 2019 Straight Jacket drinking? Spot near me (Boston area) has both 2018 and 2019, trying to decide whether to buy more 18 or 19...

 

Assuming you mean the recent batch when you refer to 2019 (SJ has been released twice, once in January 2019 and once last month).

The November 2019 batch is excellent, as someone who was not a huge fan of prior SJ releases.

 

2019 is excellent. However, it's one of my all-time favorite beers regardless of vintage, so I'm biased.

I'd buy 19 over 18 though. They nailed it this year.

Both the Jan 2019 batch (2019b1) and November (2019b2) are excellent.
But if I had to make the call, I agree with @GuyFawkes and @HawksBeerFan , go with the recent version - it is boozy with 15% ABV (vs 13.1 previously), but I like it better and it is fresher. (not that they go bad)

 

I realize this a little early to ask, and requires knowledge of the future (which can be dangerous as any fellow Time Lords, hoppers, etc. know), but what are the odds that there's any VSOD left at the taproom Thurs? I can't make it there tomorrow, but can probably swing by Thurs.

p.s. - I've really appreciated the last few pages of this thread. Great stuff.

Just wanted to say this batch of VSOD is fantastic. Barrel reigns supreme with a hit of dark fruit and finishes with chocolate oaky essence that it's truly enjoyable. Plus it will age well in my opinion. Looking forward to the creme de la creme of the releases in January.....cuvee in cans and the 10 year should be a sight to behold. Can only imagine what the draft list will entail.....Cheers all

I really meant to put Cafe VSOD...But these all drank so deliciously smooth clearly my mental capacity was hindered.

Wait...There's still 4 packs left of VSOD? I might cruise there for some more. Only took 1 at release and as usual, as I sip on one now, regretting it.

Do you people not go to the Deep Wood preview parties!?!? I've gotten two of them at those events at Brixie's.

 

They were not available this last round at the one I went to. But yes, I've gotten them at the two previous preview parties before. They're one of my favorites.
