sorry I thought you would have gotten my joke, with you and Bill Shakespeare being contemporaries. He definitely would have appreciated the correct “centre” spelling on OH’s street

Aren't they usually pretty good at having mid day soccer on? I'd also just ask the bartender.

I've looked back through the archives and I've settled upon a top 5 for 2015:
    DDH Vapor Ringz
    HDHC ACE
    HDHC AGE
    The La La
That Hot Dog Silicon Valley collab thing

Dishonorable mentions: most of this year's Crunchees, that Hudson Valley/Chobani collab, Spumoni Dream, Quiet Space, that carrot cake bullshit

I wouldn't say it's undrinkable, but one of my least favorite stouts they did this year. Also had an expectation that this one would be somewhat balanced considering that they advertised this as the beer that they "took all of their knowledge of imperial stouts" into consideration when they brewed it (as opposed to...?). Granted, I was on a bit of a dry streak, but this one caused me to let out an audible "blecht!" upon first taste. Got half the bottle down before I decided that I wouldn't be an active participant in my own abuse.

If you enjoyed it, great. I had a bad impression from the get-go though. I got all excited and bought bottles before trying it (notice a trend here?), then had a pour in the tasting room from a random bottle that was open behind the bar. I'm already skeptical of any stout that has cherry in it, but that one had a distinct umami note that really didn't sit well with me. Untapp'd ratings seem to align with my thoughts, so it's good to know I'll be able to sleep tonight.

I didn't get that at all, mostly chocolate and cherry which I enjoyed. Honestly I put negative stock in the opinions on Untapp'd, people will be like best Pils I've ever had for Palatine Pils and give it like a 3.75 and then you have beers like Raspberry Frozen Swirl Crunchee, which was an absolute trainwreck of a beer, with a higher rating.

Anyone ever attend the OH NYE party? What can I expect any big bottles poured?

I get the point you're making, but it's a poor comparison in context. Would make more sense if all imperial stouts were rated in the low 4's or lower, but we both know that's not the case.

    Nevertheless, drink whatever you like.

Ok maybe a more apropos comparison would be the new BA VIP Snowbirds which is getting rave reviews, I think cough syrup tastes better and I hate cough syrup. The majority of people on Untapp'd are philistines who don't actually like the taste of beer, they would be drinking soda if they weren't above 21.

In the same breath, I’d like you to acknowledge the cognitive dissonance of deriding an entire group of people that you consider “philistines who don’t actually like the taste of beer” while you defend a spumoni stout.

I don't see these as mutually exclusive, I don't think the Spumoni Stout was amazing but one of the worst things that OH has done this year? And yes I think the majority of these uber beer geeks don't actually like the taste of beer, why do you think a brewery 450 North hasn't crashed and burned for turning out awful beer? Like I'm sorry but a beer like Palatine Pils being a 4.1 when all of these garbage pastry stouts have higher ratings is an absolute indictment of the the beer consumers on Untapp'd.

Edit: Reality Czech is another good one, 3.68 and that beer is absolutely amazing.

Surprised no one has brought that one up until now, yea that was not good. I think the sours take up the wall of shame this year, I enjoyed quite a few of them but the bad ones were pretty bad.

@rozzom probably found himself at Suarez because he got lost, and decided he had to grow a mustache so he could twirl it after drinking a single Suarez beer. Not all of us think we are on some higher level because we enjoy a good crispy.
