Not Colorado but keep an eye out for Sierra Nevada Skiesta Bavarian Style Lager!

I saw that on the shelves a week or so ago. Piqued my interest but opted for Celebration instead. Worth a purchase then I guess?

Interesting. "Bavarian Style Lager" means helles 9 out of 10 times if the beer is pale.
Sierra Nevada would be well aware of that, so that makes me wonder if it's something more obscure. I'll have to seek that one out.

Cerebral's Schwarzbier was really solid, but I still :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes: the Vienna (Foeder) Lager there. Even more than their IPAs recently (Saturday) and I'm an IPA *****.

Never been to Baere - what should I NOT miss if I get up there in the next week?

I love their Big Hoppy Brown and Stout. Hoppy darker beers are tough to find these days, and theirs are top notch.
On the other end of the spectrum, they're one of the only places producing a relatively accurate Berliner weiss. Not just a kettle sour with a fancy name, theirs is loosely based on the way actual Berlin examples were made.

When we were in Berlin, my babe kept ordering Berliner Weiss’s and they were always some lighter beer that was poured into a glass that had a flavored syrup or Fanta pop.

Side note: whenever I taste a kettle sour, the last thing that comes to mind is ‘fancy’ hahahahaha

Yeah, the style is almost non-existent in Germany at the moment. There are only two traditional brands left and they're both brewed at the same facility. They're both puckeringly tart and mostly one-note beers. Nobody drinks them without a shot of raspberry or woodruff syrup. Apparently Berliners used to be more than kettle sours, though. I guess what we currently know as Berliner weiss has a pretty short history and they used to be closer to what they're making in Belgium. There are some new school places making throwback versions, but they're tiny.

What's really funny is if you order one in the south of Germany, they'll bring you whatever the house hefeweizen is with a shot of something in it. Could be fruit syrup, woodruff, soda or even banana puree.

Yeah I think she was served a house Hefeweizen with some stuff squirted in it iirc

Leave it to @eppCOS to take a Colorado Lager thread and get it to become about hefeweizens with syrup in Germany.

    I'm impressed.

Adding automatically like adding an orange wedge to a Hefeweizen here in the States?

I was there a couple nights ago. Dunkel, Stout, Black IPA, C3 (IPA) were my favorites. I think they’re tapping a bunch of imperial stouts today too. Not sure how long they’ll be there. If you’re down in that area and looking for a newish brewery, I’d highly recommend checking out Novel Strand too. Great hoppy beers with unique hops. Maybe ten minute walk from Baere.

(Scroll up and read the thread again. Didn't mention Hefes or syrup).

    A few quick takes:

    WeldWerks - First Time's A Charm - Pilsner
    • This one wasn't pleasing to me. Not sure if it was the hop combo (Sazz & Motueka)or what, but my palate just found it a chore to drink. I have three cans to go - still time to change my mind. Anyone else tried this?
    Cerebral Brewing - Gallows Frame
    • LOVED this "Colorado Common." So crisp, clean, and crushable.
Our Mutual Friend - The Fizz
    • Solid session (4.7 abv) keller pils. Would gladly drink this regularly.

You also didn't mention saisons (that poster who did should be banned) or berliner weisses. I just implied that you were the instigator.

And I meant nothing negative by it.

    Cheers.

Not a CO-brewed lager, but we just started getting the Weltenburger Kloster lagers in 6 packs. They're both fresh and delicious. Grapevine has the dunkel and Maerzen, but I'd guess there could be more varieties in the new format. I'm a mark for Andechs, but many people hold Weltenburger in the same high regard.

Okay, a bit tangentially related to this thread, but currently my favorite bar to score some lagers is Sobo 151, this Czech place on, S. Broadway across from the Skylark. Fresh Pilsner Urquell, Warsteiner Dunkel, Budvar, and Krusovice always. And some rotators. They’re all $3.50 for a half liter at happy hour, 3-6 M-F, and $5 and change normally. Fresh Urquell is blowing my mind. Haven’t had it in forever.
