I meant in terms of reduced prices to bring or keep customers coming in.

Bold emphasis mine. End of year thank you and appreciation price reduction. Hmm, it seems like this is something which was done irrespective of what has transpired the last few days. And I've got a bridge to sell you as well as a 10% slushy.

Being ignorant of the tax laws in Indiana, why would the tax man care if the brewery was advertising a higher abv beer than what it actually was? If it's a "pay more taxes the higher your abv is" wouldn't they be happy 450 is overpaying?

Most likely. However, being a rather highly regulated product, I would guess the Law doesn't appreciate reports/filings that are erroneous. But who knows?

I hope the beer sellers have the next hyped brewery lined up for their max profits..... This scandal is a big lump of coal for them.

Just heard about this today, I'm so far out of the beer trade loop anymore I didn't even know this place existed. My question is, why even brew an IPA base beer if you are going to mask it all with a ton of added fruit juice? Might as well just start with a high ABV imperial golden ale.

I don't think it was ever intended as an IPA base, basically a kettle sour. Probably what a lot of breweries advertise as a "berliner."

Can anyone comment on how much additional grain would be required to achieve the stated ABV as opposed to the actual ABV?

There may still be lines for this release based on their business model (resellers/distribution agents). The FB is generally a cesspool of nonsense but I did find one post a bit humorous.

First release post ABV issue: Slushbro's come out still looking to flip for max profits, get stuck with 7 cases of fruit juice in their basement.

2nd release post ABV issue: Slushbro's lacking max profit cash flows still sitting in inventory can't make it out, no lines, brewery stuck with weeks worth of juice inventory

It’s pretty straight forward as getting 3 times the ABV would take 3 times the grain. It would drastically alter the flavor of the beer

or skip the grain and just add a bunch of table sugar.

it would dry out the beer, but with the amount of fruit they add it would probably balance it back out.

Safe to say the lower ABV was not a cost savings strategy if table sugar could achieve the stated ABV?

Not sure exactly what this means, but this was their first ever “imperial slurpy,” which is apparently what they used to call these Slushys. They state “sits at 8.0% and has 35% more fruit than our regular slurpys.”

They also state that 1000 pounds of fruit was used for this beer, but since we don’t know the batch size, that probably doesn’t help us much. For what it’s worth, the regular Slurpys that came before this were all listed as 4.5%, and always had the “keep cold, drink fresh” disclaimer. This was also the last Slurpy beer made before they changed the name to Slushy.

Maybe they meant there was the potential for an ABV of 8% (if you didn't drink fresh and keep it cold, and the can didn't explode due to a secondary fermentation of the fruit).
