I bought this today in Illinois. What do you think about it?

Really good! Piney, fruity bitterness. Even better considering it was only $9.99.

    Grabbed a sixer last night.

Classic Sierra really; west coast bitterness, citrus fruit and some pine on the finish.

I’ll probably grab one more pack!

If you like Sierra Nevada hoppy beers (I wouldn't trust you walking my dogs if you didn't), you'll really enjoy this beer. If you are one of those kids that only enjoy the latest and haziest of the hazy beers, you better pass on this one.

It's kinda between an APA and an IPA, but it's West Coast and, dare I say, old-school all the way and I love everything about it.

I like it a lot and agree with the previous comments about it being classic Sierra through and through. I'm almost always disappointed when the spring seasonal starts showing up around me because it means that there will be no more Celebration, but this one is at least close to that level for me.

Not a bad beer but I was expecting more for a 40th anniversary. They just pumped out an average run of the mill IPA for their 40th. Weird.

Looks like this, so should be easy to pick out on a SIERRA NEVADA shelf:

    looking forward to it myself.
I do still have a couple Fritz and Ken's stouts (30th anniversary) kicking around in my cellar. It was great last time I opened one.

Wonderful. Just showed up on CLT.

With SNPA and Celebration as two of their older beers (I believe stout was officially their first one), why not? The 30th collabs were an imperial stout, imperial helles bock and two barley wines.

I still think of SN as the first true US ambassador of hops so this makes sense to me.

So what will 50th be?!?!?! Whatever it is, it just needs to be Ken's!

Yeah I was wondering about this too. I will give it a try but it seems pretty simple. But the concept does make sense when you think about it, especially now.

Firstly: Happy 40th Anniversary Sierra Nevada!

There has been some discussion that for their 40th Anniversary Sierra Nevada should have made a ‘different’ type beer. Personally I am very pleased they made this beer an homage to their roots.

    From the Sierra Nevada website:

    “Malts

Two-row Pale, Caramelized malts, Acidulated, Oats

    Hops

    Cluster, Cascade, Centennial”

Look at that hop bill, they even took the step to use the ‘heritage’ American hop of Cluster hops (I presume for bittering) in this beer. In a couple of weeks I will be once again be brewing my annual batch of Classic American Pilsner and yes using Cluster hops for bittering this beer.

If I am ever traveling down to my neighboring state of Delaware in the next month or so I will most definitely pick up some of this ‘historical’ beer!

Cheers to Sierra Nevada Brewing for remembering their roots!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oats, I don't think I've ever had a Sierra Nevada beer that used oats. Has there been any?

The label someone posted indicates a 6.7 abv, but my bottles say 6.0%. Even that seems high because the beer is a little thin for an ipa and drinks like a session ipa.

Hopefully Terence (@SierraTerence) can answer your question.

I personally do not recall any Sierra Nevada beers brewed with Oats. I wonder if they are using Flaked Oats or Oat Malt?

    Cheers!

And that is the value listed on the Sierra Nevada website.

    Cheers!
