I just had a bad can as well. There was a brown glue like residue around the rim and the tab broke off when I tried to open it. I had to use a can opener and it was much darker than usual. Drain pour :slight_frown:

I think I am done with LIC. Too much other good stuff out there.

Unfortunately agree. Why spend the money if they can't be bothered to quality control?

To be fair, just cracked my second can. Color very different and an amazing beer.
Quality control is not a "never again" for me but something to keep in mind. Some of the local breweries (OH comes to mind) have incredible rations of very low if any oxidization issues, and I had a positive experience with the owners of Grimm on a problem way back.

I can't imagine there hasn't been a brewery that has been free of production issues.

Of course; but LIC and OH are around the same age and not sure when each got their own canning lines, but seems like LIC has had 10-50x the oxidization issues per can than OH has? This isnt the first....OH has made some bad recipes and bad beers but that is a different story.

If there have been other issues I've been unaware of that; I've only heard of this issue and apparently some of the BA stouts they did recently were infected, but I've never personally experienced bad cans.

2 out of my 4 pack of POC were oxidized, looked like muddy water. Second one opened tonight was also losing its flavor profile, very watery before I poured it out. Breweries certainly have production issues, a shame it happened for them on their "most important"/most hyped beer of the year.

I think at the beginning their canning and oxidization issues were really high risk; I could be wrong in my memory and likely it was mobile canning, but I think they had more issues than others...

You are spot on with your comments. Quality issues are not new to LIC.

Even if someone wants to dispute this, I think they are missing the point that there is too much good stuff out there to care about LIC.

First batch, 8/27/2016 release had browning issues. It's too bad because that release was slept on and I was able to go back for more twice during the week after tasting how great that beer was!

    5/13/2017 was fantastic
    12/16/2017 was also fantastic
    5/5/2018 was great!
    12/15/2018 was also great!
(sadly, no May 2019 release, ask @SpinSamzo about it)
12/14/2019 seems to have issues. I've had some cans exploding with mango flavors though I had a can last week that mostly tasted like onions and I had a can tonight that didn't taste like a whole lot but wasn't brown.

It's kind of crazy this beer is such a legend after only 6 releases but it's also striking that 2 of the 6 seem to have had issues. It's an incredible beer and they're great brewers. I hope they can figure out what happened most recently!

Edit: I tried opening a stout bottle after POC and was surprised it had soured. I went to untappd and it seems like both bottles had issues.

When its on, which has been most of the time, it's worth the risk!

Man, my most recent pile of crowns had that really nice vanilla thing they coax out of it!
