Looking forward to trying it when I see it. I haven't been to a store for some time.

I didn't say that WAS the label, only that it "Looks like" it.

Yeah, apparently they reformulated it after the first COLA. So now it looks closer to this (only in all 3 dimensions, not 2).

It’s a good beer, good value AND most of us peeps can get it! What’s not to like!?! Or do you prefer a hidden whale, which you probably would not be able to get. I can see their marketing strategy, and once again I have to give them a lot of credit.

I snagged a 12-pack today for $14.99, popped a few in the fridge and walked the dogs and did a few tasks. I just finished my first 40 Hoppy Anniversary Ale and loved it! It is a perfectly simple old style hoppy ale; clean, nose of fresh malt and piney hops leaping forward. It's a perfect homage to those first West Coast efforts. I get it. Well done. Bottled 11/27/19 at Mills River. I'll buy more for sure.

Enjoying one now, nice pine hit and light citrus. Decent beer, simple and clean.
    Cheers

There were multiple 30th Anniversary beers released, I’d be surprised if this is the only release this year that mentions the 40th.

Do you know which version of Oats is used for the 40th Anniversary Ale? Is is Oat Malt?

    Cheers!

What were you expecting/hoping for? DDH NEIPA? Milkshake/lactose IPA?

For their 30th anniversary they set the bar pretty high with three unique offerings in 750's. The Grand Cru was particularly good, a spectacular blend of BA Bigfoot and Celebration I believe. I was hoping for more of the same, hopefully in a smaller format.

And I was just telling a local retailer that I thought we needed more IPAs or Pale Ales on the shelves.

Truth is, I'll sample this one just because it's SN; they're batting well over .500 in the beers they produce, but I really expected them to be a little more creative as they were for their 30th.

Maybe I'll hunt down that 6.7 version, it has to be better with more alcohol, right?

Grabbed a sixer and just cracked the cap off of one. There are 40 reviews/ratings for this beer so far. The score is 3,97 because one reviewer gave it a terrible score.

The score will go up over the next few days, if not I have some stock tips for next year.

I thought it was a Brown Ale at first glance.

Just picked up a 12-pack last night and can't wait to try this beer. It's getting harder and harder to find a classic West Coast-style IPA around me anymore. Cheers to Sierra Nevada!
