Ha, Blueberry crunchee was fantastic. If that was the only crunchee on record, their claim wouldn't be so ridiculous!

...And we made it! On to 190.

Alright where's @guinness77, I want to know what Other Half beers are his least favorite- probably ACE or DMD, double for the awful DDH versions!

Note that I'm using the correct spelling of "favorite" without that godawful "u" added (fingers crossed aforementioned phrase ends up on can bottoms in 2020) #tohellwith189Iwantmore

If Other Half is going to continue to play up the hand-selectedness of their hops and the Wild Thai-ness of their bananas in 2020, I think it probably behooves them to expand on their lactose sourcing. It's much too central an ingredient in their portfolio for us not to know more of its provenance.

Were the cows who provided the milk for the original product grass-fed, raised on open pastures, and ethically treated? Were the chemists who processed the conversion to crystallized sugar provided a healthy and safe workspace and well-compensated for their scientific expertise? Was only the very best, purest, and silkiest lactose chosen for inclusion in Other Half's beer?

Right now, there are far too many question marks...

Do the lactose sugars necessarily have to come from cows? Other Half would really innovate in 2020 if they'd consider using lactose from other mammalian sources.

Also want to be honest about my can of BA Ten Fidy...it was on the thin side. And in drinking it I realized that while OH's stouts lean too damn sweet, I've never had one and thought the texture was lacking.

Last point of clarification, I'm "being honest" because I shit on OH stouts for their sweetness, but drinking that BA Ten Fidy helped remind me that they do have some redeeming qualities (texture/body, namely).

Anybody else "working" tomorrow on #190not189? I really think we're shortchanging our ability for frivolous talkiness if we aim low just to please the Hazepecker.

I'm pretty sure the sugars can be derived from any mammalian milk product. Full disclaimer: I'm the opposite of an expert.

But if OH starts advertising that their lactose is produced from, say, artisanal goat milk, then I think that'll be our cue that we need to boycott this brewery in order to save it.

Working on it right now. There's no way we can give that smug Scottish prick the satisfaction.

It's crazy what we expect from the body of a stout now. Ten Fidy used to be a massive beer, now it's thin! OH's stouts are definitely too sweet, but for the longest time they were all way too roasty. I'll take this over that.

OH is full of surprises but they don't keep secrets well do they? I feel like all the blockbuster releases were mentioned here before they were put on social media.

@RobNewton I hear you about how our perception of texture/body has changed, and I want to shout out to Grimm because that Sumi Babka (the OG chocolate version) had the most insane motor oil thiccness of any beverage I've ever quaffed, as best as my alcohol soaked memory permits me to recall. Their Jam Don't Shake was nothing to shake a stick at either (pun intended). And, I used to love BA Ten Fidy, so having strange uncomfortable feels all around about that can I had.

At taproom now, good crowd for Monday night. Hops Only tastes great. Similar to so many others? Maybe, but I don't care if it's delicious.

Really grateful for this crew, from brewers to staff here, they've dedicated themselves to a really special outfit and I've certainly availed myself of the output more than enough for one lifetime. Thing is I don't wear brewery schwag, but am wearing pizza socks (Xmas gift), so I'll plead here to Creepy Owner Guy, can we get some Other Half socks next year? They haven't done that before have they?

It is surprising that OH doesn’t do an imperial coffee stout with rotating beans a la double shot. Seems right up their alley and would be a great addition.

Ha, I feel like they're always happy to leak a little and let people start making plans ahead of time. They have the release schedule well over a month in advance but I think they just want to minimize the chance something is announced and then can't be released. In almost 5 years of cans that's happened only a few times?

Yeah, Hops Only does seem somewhat similar to others, but I'm really happy with it.
