Wow, thanks! Great intel. Was gonna skip the dojo since we have a MT in Oakland now.

Throwing in another casual Japanese spot - Konbi in Echo Park for breakfast or lunch. Japanese sandwiches (katsu, egg salad, omelette) that you can grab to-go or wait for the small seating area.

In addition to Black Rider's very good recommendations, I'll add:

    DOWNTOWN LA

Izakaya Fugu - Japanese small plates and sushi
    Hakata Ikkousha - ramen
    Brera - regional Italian
    Rossoblu - regional Italian
    Prime Pizza
Baco Mercat - arguably the best pita sandwich you'll ever have
Al & Bea's - make the drive to Boyle Heights for a first-class bean + cheese burrito
Guisados - tacos w/stewed gourmet fillings
    Guilleria tacos - fancy tacos
    Sonoratown - tacos w/flour tortillas

    HIGHLAND PARK
    Triple Beam Pizza
    Mason's Dumplings - chinese dumplings
    Rosty - peruvian
Joy - hipster version of chinese but good
My Taco - hi quality tacos and burritos, especially the lamb barbacoa
Charlie's Tacos - try the al pastor fries

Well - I'm going to revive my thread for just a moment to tell all of you here a big Thank You!
I've been meaning to post for quite a while, but hadn't found the time.

Thanks to the recommendations here, we (or at least I) managed to hit:
    Firestone Walker Propagator
Beachwood (parking was a bitch, food was delicious)
    Long Beach Beer Lab
    Highland Park
    Monkish
    Smog City
    Enegren
    Ladyface
    Casa Agria
    Institution
    Figueroa Mountain
    Twisted Oak
...plus a few other restaurants and sights-to-see. The last two were right around the corner from the hotel, but I probably could have skipped them and wouldn't have been a loss.

Loved the vibe at Smog City. Monkish's beer was delicious of course, but it was a little frenetic and packed, and we were there on a Sunday afternoon!
I was most impressed - and probably would have missed without the guidance from here - with Enegren. I regret not finding space in the luggage for some of their cans.

I did find Pliny and Blind Pig to take home with me. Along with some Bottle Logic goodies. And had my first In-n-Out Burger experience. Overall a good trip for sure. Thanks again and cheers!

Which Beachwood did you hit up ? From your response it sounds like you where at the Seal Beach location because parking on Main St. is bad anytime of the year. I liked your assessment of Monkish, very true, I'm hoping after the remodel that the interior space is more user friendly. Looks like you did a fantastic job hitting a wide variety of breweries and were able to bring some sought after west coast goodies home, what did you think of your first In-n-Out experience ?

    Cheers,

We were in LA for 3 days, then Agoura Hills for 3 days. I'm glad we got to hang out and experience so many places.

No, we went to the Long Beach location after a visit to the aquarium. It was a Saturday night though, so maybe that explains the difficulty parking.

In-n-Out was good. I went on a Monday afternoon at like 2:30, and the drive-through line was still wrapped around the building! Moved fast though. I'd eat there again.

    Thanks again everybody!

@macrosmatic In N Out drive through lines are insanely long during this covid crap ... typically fairly long but NOT this long

By the same token, getting served within the restaurant is quicker.

They have dedicated parking that they validate within the apartments south of blendery, can also access via alley. 3 hours worth from their validation.

For out of towners they probably don't know about the 3 hour validation parking behind BWLB.
