haha, too transparent I guess. I’ve been chaotic with holidays, so it’s been tough to reply to all this love.

I’m sorry. Maybe it’s easier for me because I don’t think their beer is very good, but yes their politics matter to me. It likely matters to others as well (on either side of the aisle), so I felt compelled to publicize it. How much of those sweet hazy ipa profits are going toward the support of this person and their vile, inhumane policies, idk. Not worth me taking a chance, to be honest.

so I guess their politics don’t affect the quality of their beer, but it shows me the quality of character the people who make the beer possess. Happy to pass. It might make people more likely to visit. Somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

I go to a places like Trullium and Foam all the time. Pretty sure I'm surrounded and out numbered there by people with different political views than me. Probably the owners too but I dont care they make awesome beer and have good customer service. Also I'm not a crazy person.

Very recently maybe November. I know a guy that works there so I've been waiting for them to open. Also the city my wife is from so I'm there often.

Hey, while I do agree with you, they posted yesterday saying their account was hacked

If it was say, Notch, and not Deciduous, would you still boycott them?

I completely understand your point, and many share it I'm sure. As we always say on these boards, "To each their own".

Personally I try not to judge people I don't know. IF those tweets/likes were legitimate, I still don't know very much about them as people. And I'm sure there's plenty of companies/products you support that have people who share different political views than you.

For example, NH was nearly split in the 2016 election, with Hillary narrowly winning by 0.4%. I would bet there's plenty of breweries in NH that have owners and/or employees who are Trump supporters.

Exactly you'd drive yourself insane trying to only buy products from people your political views align with. People have lost their damn minds a bit. Lol

I buy beer from breweries I don’t agree with and listen to bands I do not, but we aren’t haters.

I like to think so. And I'll elaborate in my response below.

That's totally fine. For me, I am fine with cutting my financial support for businesses (or musicians/artists/etc) who have proven to be not-so-great people. And I know there's a difference between cutting out, say, the music of Ryan Adams from my iTunes library and choosing to opt out of buying a breweries beer because of who they support. I also like to believe it's not a strictly a Republican thing. My brother is in politics. He's as right-wing as they come, but this current administration is not one he respects or supports.

EDIT: Apologies if this is super late and you've all moved on. I have been out of town for a few days.

    "A bit".

I really hope this year people can start to calm down about getting offended by anything and everything (so long as it fits their agenda).

It's a tired and cliched saying, but this is just beer, people.

I think the last decade will best be known for people being offended.

I was watching a Chappelle Show marathon yesterday and kept thinking, "Wow, he probably couldn't do half of this stuff today." And that only ran 2003 - 2006! Not that long ago.

I also saw Bill Burr on the Mandalorian and remember seeing him at the Wilbur back in 2008/2009. He used a word I won't use here during his set and thought, "He'd get skewered if he said that today on stage".

None of this is aimed at @mrmattosgood 's comments and choices though. While I don't agree with his decision, I can completely understand it.

We're really drifting away from NH craft beer here but my very short take on this issue is that we've had people trying to be transgressive by not caring who they offend for so long that's it's now more of a radical act (and a more interesting creative path) to actually give a shit about who you offend.

Some of this is true in my opinion. But in some cases we’ve lost a sense of the context of specific situations. The “Grace in Boston Peloton” commercial is a good example of this. I’ve spoken to women about this who have no idea why that was seen as offensive.

I can understand why @mrmattosgood would boycott Deciduous Brewing. I can understand people being upset about the Founders’ situation last year. I can’t understand why people jumped to the conclusion they did with the Peloton commercial.

I think the Aviator Gin ad was better!

On a NH note, my 2020 resolution is to make it up to Schilling's taproom. Just love their lagers.

Back on subject - visited Spyglass Brewery in Nashua today. Simple taproom in an industrial park but hot damn the IPAs are good. Place was packed on a Thursday & I can see why. Coconut Porter was good too.

Check this place out if in the area.

Happy to take it back to NH beer.

I’ll double down on trying to hit Schilling in 2020. Has anyone had anything from their Resistance lineup? Do I have that right? It’s their American ale lineup.

I disagree because, from what I can tell, it is only going to get worse. I don't see the "that might have been offensive to someone somewhere so I better say that I was the one offended so people will think I am a sensitive respectable person even though I wasn't actually offended and neither was anyone anywhere" people going anywhere anytime soon.

    I
I live 30 min away and make it a point to go there every time my wife wants to buy overpriced food from Whole Foods down the road. Which, btw, has a sneaky good tap room. Spyglass is a favorite for me in the southern NH area. Great Indian food restaurant nearby too if that’s anyone’s thing.

Resilience: I've had a few cans here and there. Side Part is a solid session IPA and Combover is an excellent Galaxy IPA

but the reason someone may dislike a brewery might be a reason someone else may like that brewery. IMHO a business should stay out of politics because you will offend 1/2 of your potential customers, unless you are the Ben and Jerrys business model and use politics as a marketing scheme.
