Had a mash and french toast last night. Still tastes like liquid breakfast. So damn good. Also, made some mimosas with spontanaheim and it was lovely. I highly reccomend it

Same. I'm a stout drinker. I try a LOT of different beers but always come back to the Bruery as my consistent go-to.

That being said, the price of the Kickoff ticket this close after the holidays plus the fact that the take-home beer is a sour, makes my decision to pass all the easier. Also think that 2 hrs is at least 1 hr too short to work through that pour list. On the upside, holding the party at Terreux will be nice for those attending.

This!!! They are in the inevitable “post-fad” phase that many great breweries, such as Modern Times, Great Notion, and Bottle Logic (well on their way IMO, especially now that FO is a shelf turd) will find themselves in within the next several years. But their beers are still epic, and in some cases, better than ever (2019 CR, GM, and BT are the best fresh batches I’ve ever had).

Not to blast on the pricing, but I agree with what many have said on here... $75 for a 2hr event is super steep. It’s a non-issue for me because I can’t make it down anyway, but it’s an extremely off-putting price. I guess I feel less upset about the pricing and more concerned about it... the move away from cheaper events makes it harder for people to justify going to Bruery functions, which results in lower attendance, making the events less viable. I feel like the same thing has happened with tasters in the tasting rooms, which results in people not coming as often, and not staying as long... and now they’re cutting hours in the TRs. Charging people more, and giving them less is never a viable economic situation. To be honest, I’m going to go whenever I’m in town, and I still love me some Bruery beer (and the staff is world class!), but I really hope they aren’t shooting themselves in the foot by charging a premium for things that just a few years ago were very affordable.

Either way, I’d probably still go if I was in town... but I know that a lot of people won’t... that’s what concerns me.

2 hours is really short to get through that list and the price point is high. As everyone else is stating, I hope this isn't an indicator of the Anniversary party.

Happy to see I'm not the only one who thought 75 bucks was rough for this event. And as a RS member the tap list seems just ok. There's 20 beers in the RS section of the email and I'm only really eyeing 4-5 of them as ones I'd "have" to have if I were to attend. This can't be good news for the Anniversary/BT event pricing. Tickets were 80 last year I think, now they'd have to be 90-100+?

Well, jokes on me... session 1 has already sold out.

I’ve stepped away from a lot of their parties due to the cost increase each year. Them throwing food and other shit in there doesn’t justify it for me when the beer comes out sooner or later except some of the BT variants. In the last 6 years of being a member, I’ve been to two parties in the last three years.

*Cough* If you've been in the league for years then this is a crazy increase, and if you're in the "beer scene" you can evaluate other events and compare. For the vast majority? They just pay and the rates go up. This is probably one of the first areas the VCs saw as a way to make money.

Can't wait to see the Anniversary and BT parties this year.

Just joined the League (assuming you mean MT) this year, and the fleshed out explanation of why they needed to raise their preview tasting events from $10 to $15 honestly blew me away. It was very well spoken and demonstrated a level of transparency that I was very impressed with. A great first impression IMO... and $15 still sounds like a bargain.

I feel like when the folks at The Bruery have their feet held to the fire (which is why I disagreed with someone over airing grievances here on BA), they’ll provide a good, fleshed out explanation... I thought their ultimate response to the steep TR price increases in ‘17 and Barry’s response to Chocolate Reign-gate last year were great... but both required days of many people on here airing complaints (in addition to the numerous private emails, etc) and a lot of drama. The only critique I’d give them is to be more preemptive when making a huge price increase or when a potentially sticky situation arises... this could at least alleviate the drama.

And this might be a point of debate, but I think when you’re paying hundreds a year to be in a beer club, and especially if you’ve been a loyal fan for years, any major change or hiccup does deserve an explanation.

That price for a two hour event is hilarious. Even as a four hour event I’d probably pass.

Let's be conservative and say they allow 300 people per session at 75. So $22,500 in revenue, minus their own facility so cost for that is $0, glassware is usually fairly low, let's say $5 per = $1500. Food is a burger and fries meal so say cost is $10 pp = $3000 which puts us at $4500 cost so far and onto the beer. So 34 beers which based on the list the majority of those will be poured from sixtels and the majority cost coming from any bottles they pour which will most likely be the dated offerings. I don't see that adding up anywhere close to the $18k difference, which for a society only welcome party seems "cash grabby", this event should be a THANK YOU for joining not a thank you for more money.

Come up with an event for at least 3 hours, stop with these single meals and break out some BBQ or some family style type of food, nix the glassware and drop the price to $50. Now that is a society party in my eyes.

Edit: What better way to start 2020 than for some in depth analysis and pitch forking right?

True but, as @FrogOut69 mentioned somewhere earlier, there's tons of people who either don't care or don't know better yet.

I joined as well in anticipation of Anaheim opening up this year and have been super impressed with the initiative I've seen from their staff. They seem like they are way more involved and interactive. Hopefully someone is taking notes.

They have to somehow make up for the loss they're taking on the $890 value of the bottles included versus the 700 something members pay.

Edit: They've extended the party by 30 minutes and I can only assume it's from everyone's incessant bitching here :joy:

The amount of complaining in here before any beer has even been released is entertaining.

I’ll give them credit for reacting in a positive way to the gripes about the short session. I’m still not going but at least they’re trying some.

As always, any time I voice a concern, it’s only fair to follow up with praise when they fix it. And this is one of those times.

    You’re Awesome Bruery!

I can still find it, to this day, at City Beer Store in SF, and I know for a fact that it’s not the only place that still has it.

I think I just need to accept the fact that a $75 ticket for the 2.5 hour welcome party is appropriately priced. Session 1 sold out already and for all I know Session 2 might be sold out now. My perspective is skewed because I was a RS member at the time the Anniversary Party was first held at the Phoenix Club (the party that resulted in the Clusterfork events). The lines were ridiculously long but each member got 2 tickets for $0.
