Small note, but Lolita's is closed until the 6th for the holidays/new years. Do this on Tuesday.

It's good to know that they are working on Bull and Bear again. They had stopped for a while last fall. When it opens there will be 3 breweries and 1 brew pub within 10 minutes of each other. Bull n Bear and Trap Rock are even on the same street not even 6 miles apart. People from a distance will be able to visit all 4 in one afternoon. (if they can find a parking spot in Summit!!)

I ate at the restaurant next door the other day and it seems they are at a standstill as far as construction goes. Place is still barren and nothing has been done in the past year there. I am assuming they ran into money/financing problems but who knows. I was looking forward to this place myself but can't realistically see them opening up any time soon.

Agree 100% It's taking a long time for all three to open. Unfortunately, none of them are in good locations for parking. It's very hard to find parking in downtown Westfield. At least Summit has the garage on Springfield Avenue but it's frequently full. Morristown is a little better and the location is across the street from the train station.

Well the first 2020 brewery closing occurred before the first 2020 opening. Small sample size, etc, but certainly not the greatest omen. Enix Brewing has closed its doors, and is trying to sell the brewery.

If anyone is looking to buy a turnkey brewery/restaurant/bowling alley in Pittsburgh you could certainly do a lot worse than this.

Two Villains just opened up a few weeks ago in Nyack. Spot looks very cozy, beers sound great.

Once Tin Roof and Foreign Objects open you can make a real nice little loop of TV, TR, FO, District 96 and Industrial Arts.

With a stop at Rockland Bakery figured in there somewhere.

Also, on the other side of the river there's Soul Brewing, slated to open in Pleasantville in the first few months of this year.

I have been reading for years about Foreign Object opening a brewery (I read New Paltz in the past). Do you have any details here? Will this opening be a brewery? If so, where will this brewery be located? Any other details you can share?

    Cheers!

Looks to be a tasting room and retail outlet in Monroe. So, not the rumored New Paltz,.but an hour south of New Paltz, give or take, in Orange County. Far as I can tell from what I've read it will not be a brewery, but I will wait to hear from other people more currently involved in the beer scene to find out the latest.

Yeah I just use 'brewery' as a catch-all term since the overwhelming majority do that on-site obviously. But it's gonna be a tasting room and their beers to go a la Shmaltz's current set-up in downtown Troy or R.S. Taylor's Saratoga location.

I don't have the address, but their website has progress pictures on what it's gonna look like:

Let's hope the quality of beer at Bull and Bear is better than TR.

Wrong person to say that to. Trap Rock brews classic beers to style. You perhaps don't enjoy beers like that but that doesn't mean there not quality . It just means you don't like them.

I've had a couple of beers over the years from them (in-laws live in Berkeley Heights), their darker beers were not bad. However, when I visited Trap Rock last year, the pilsner I had was easily the worst pilsner (out of 74 I've checked into untappd and a style I thoroughly enjoy) I had and the brown ale was mediocre. Maybe I just visited on a bad day for them.

They just updated their Facebook page. They have at last gotten the basement excavation finished. Something they had hoped to have done in November.

Apologies if I missed earlier in the thread (or 2019 thread)... Tin Roof?

I'm going to venture that it was a slip of the keys, and he's referring to Tin Barn in Sugarloaf, that he listed in the original post in this thread.

Haha damnit, I think I combined Tin Bridge of MA and the word 'roof' instead of 'loaf' in my head and that's where we ended up. This is what happens now with near 8,000 breweries in the country.

But yeah, Tin BARN of Sugar LOAF NY.

No idea on opening date, but here's a new one in Warwick, NY that seems decently far along? https://www.drownedlands.beer/

Looks like the owner of Pine Island Brewing? Guessing it's this one - https://www.recordonline.com/news/20180813/27m-brewery-pitched-for-ex-prison-site-in-warwick

Pine Island's beers never wowed me, but they were always drinkable. I like the emphasis of this one, if it's appealing to a more specific sour/lager/IPA crowd, whereas Pine Island seems more geared toward accessibility. The Warwick area itself doesn't really have a 'destination' brewery despite being within an hour of a bunch like EQ, HVB, RD, Industrial Arts, and soon to be Foreign Objects and Tin Barn, so they will definitely draw a crowd if the beers are great.
