Has my favorite winter warmer been discontinued? I have not seen it on the shelves this season and I just visited Odell's site and dont see it included with their seasonal rotation list. Not the end of the world, but definitely disappointing if true.
Just had some about a month ago https://www.odellbrewing.com/beer/isolation-ale/ Still here/there, but stops in December. So... huh. Maybe a weird distribution change?
I had some last month. That and Alaskan Winter, Celebration and Jubel Ale. They are my big 4 of the Winter seasonals.
Yeah, looks like its in the plans for winter 2020 as well: https://www.odellbrewing.com/2019-beer-calendar/ (the link says 2019 but the image on the site says 2020)
Just like most seasonals, it comes early and leaves early. Hits the shelves in late September IIRC, and is usually gone by Christmas to make room for the spring seasonal.
I've noticed this with lots of different Winter seasonals this year. Avery Old Jubilation, Isolation, Alaskan, Upslope, Deschutes, Victory, etc. Some stores just flat-out aren't getting them and their shelves are still stocked with Summer/Fall stuff. Solid stores, too. Not sure if it's the distributor or the stores themselves, but it's a real thing for sure. My local Old Chicago has had a ton of seasonals that I've tried to buy at the store. Yet when I roll up I still see old stock where they should be.
Good to see Isolation there, just as bad to see that Cutthroat Porter is not. Guess the poster who mentioned it being discontinued was indeed correct. Also looks like they are cutting back on their Cellar Series releases, cut down to Barreled Treasure and Friek for the entirety of the year. Not surprised about that given the amount of their prior Cellar Series releases just sitting on the shelves, but was hoping to finally get a chance at trying their Extra Special Red.
Yeah, I feel the same. In previous years they included the woodcut series on this calendar, but it's absent here so it seems like they may be eliminating that series (or at least limiting it's distro) which is too bad. I had and enjoyed both 180 shilling and the oak aged ipa this year and I'll miss that type of experimentation.
Isolation is great, but I think it might be my favorite label of almost any beer around. Sad to hear that Barreled Treasure won’t be around next year.. I’ll certainly have to grab a couple packs when I see them next... interestingly enough, its the only BA beer I’ve seen in the grocery stores around here.
Barreled Treasure WILL be around again, as will Friek. No other barrel series beers though, it looks like.
Barreled Treasure might be the most common BA beer in all of Colorado. All of the grocery stores in my neighborhood had huge stacked displays of it. Those same stores barely carry anything that isn't a flagship IPA or macro lager. I dunno if it actually sells well, but it seems like Odell certainly had faith in the beer.
Yeah its everywhere and I think its great, though I love coffee. Hopefully prices drop at some point here soon
I think I bought a single 12 ounce bottole of that, Barreled Treasure, for a little over $4. I was pretty pleased with that price point.
