Hey all, was searching and couldn't find previous info on this but Mostra is having it's 6th anniversary party. I was wondering if there was any feedback from those who might have attended the previous years' anniversary parties! Lines were long last year for the usual suspects (specifically when J.Wakefield opened up Bake bottles), otherwise I think I waited maybe 2 minutes for a beer during the VIP hour. Once GA was let in I think the wait time might have increased to 10 minutes (at the absolute most) for a beer. It is tough to compare last year and this year though since last year at the hotel area the food was included and it just kept coming. The DoubleTree made sure that water stations and food were always going due to the higher ABV of the beers. They also had the DoubleTree bartenders (I think 4 of them) pouring at the main outside bar for about 8 different beers, so that was quick since they knew exactly what they were doing. I think my favorite moment was when I found that the Coffee Assassin was in a back room with a full roasted pig, so I spent 45 minutes eating pork and drinking the assassin with a line of 2 people (the line being my buddy and I). The price for the VIP is a tough one to justify, since I am not a coffee fan, unless it is in my beers, so really the increase between GA and VIP, for me, is how much will my better half enjoy all of the coffee stuff? Since she said she will DD for me and a couple friends. Edit: As for running out, there were 3 (IIRC) beers that kicked during VIP. Bake being one of them.
Thanks for sharing! Really appreciate that. I grabbed a VIP ticket already and am in the process of convincing some of my friends to come too, haha. Was the amount of VIP compared to GA manageable? I saw something like 400 VIP were there last year versus 200 GA so that sounded a bit weird to me, but if the lines apart from the majorly hyped breweries were pretty quick, that's always great to know. Interesting that they shifted away from the food, so I'm wondering how the lines will fare with that change.
I think the fact that food is not included in this year's price of admission also might have been a little bit of a turn off for the VIP tickets. That being said, last year's event, and the late-night bottle shares happening throughout the hotel were awesome. The rest of my thoughts mirror SDReaper's. If I wasn't already going to be in Hawaii for a wedding, I would definitely be heading back to Mostra this year.
Hate to revive a bit of an old thread but would appreciate one more quick question for those who have attended/will be attending... Does anyone know if we're able to bring water bottles/Hydroflasks for water? Just want to make sure I'm plenty hydrated during the event
Water was provided last year, but I still brought in my own hydroflask mostly for the rinse/chug water before getting a new pour. I would assume you could bring one this year as well (I know I am going to), but uncertain about restrictions on the water stations at this location. I remember that when MT held their first carnival of caffeination a water station was denied I think due to runoff into the ocean. So I do not know if that issue has been resolved, but I am pretty sure mostra spoke with MT about it, so I would imagine that any issues would have been worked out.
Oh wow, never thought about runoff being an issue. Yeah, I would love to bring my own bottle for the same thing - rinsing/hydrating in between pours. I know festivals I've been to offer to rinse but I just like making the whole process a bit faster haha. Thanks for the response!
Update: got a response from Mostra on IG. Unfortunately, no water bottles or Hydroflasks will be allowed in the venue but plenty of water stations within the venue.

If for some reason you didn't get the email from Mostra, be sure to find good transportation down to the event today. The Women's March is taking place basically right outside the venue, as such there will be road closures and delays if you are driving down. Basically, have your uber, lyft, DD, llama, or whatever your mode of transportation is drop you off at the Santa Fe Depot train station and then just walk the block or so to the venue. It says the March is basically done around 2pm, so if you are GA you might not have to worry about the road closure, but better safe than sorry. I think it should be perfectly fine for getting picked up during/after the event. Cheers and see some of you there.
