Not all of those bottles are really empty, they’re just advertised as such to get around rules for selling alcohol.

I knew they had a major crackdown on selling alcohol thru the site many years ago.

I don’t think the wax does anything but I personally always like the look of it. I’m a bit surprised at how many of you seem to struggle so mightily to open them though. I’ve had maybe 2 bottles in my life that were legitimately difficult to open, the rest took about 15 seconds to open instead of the usual 2 seconds for a normal bottle. Fortunately I’m not super busy at night when I’m drinking so I’m able to afford that extra time.

You must have never had the waxed 1L bottles that Grand Teton put out many years ago. They were the worst that I have ever experienced.

I was thinking this as well. I generally just pop them right open with a standard bottle opener. Couldn't be easier.

I have never had a problem just prying the cap off a waxed bottle. Ever. I think some people just like to complicate their lives.

Yeah, he didn't try very hard. But he knew the desperate beer nerds would be an easy target. And he wasn't wrong.
