I was talking to the bartender at fff. The reason that they delayed officially announcing DLD this year is because Dark Lord is being modified to a Fruit Slushee. More information to come.

Must have been at the pub. At the distillery they said this would be a draft-only variant at the fest. And it will be called Dragonfruit Abortion.

A lot of gate checkers were being way too serious about the limits. I got a cool guy and a simple "cmon man..." got him to say i'm all good. Other lady next to him checking made a guy throw away water bottles...

I definitely got through the gate with a bit over 100 oz. A lot of other people weren't so lucky. Then again, I spent a lot of time wandering around carrying half-empty stout bottles.

They seem to be more strict early in the morning and get super lax as the day goes on.

That said, I too have overbrought in the past before they imposed any limits, and the main issue with that is you spend all day trying to drink all the beers you brought instead of enjoying the taps and other great bottle share beers others bring. You can drink your own beer anytime, don't waste DLD drinking all of your own beers. 2-3 bombers is honestly enough.

Last year I brought in 1 stout bottle and 5-6 IPA cans (Tree House & Hill Farmstead). It was a perfect ratio and amount because almost all the beer was gone by noon, and only taps were enjoyed afterwards. In the years prior, I'd haul a ton of beer and then deal with trying to get it out of my hands once open or having to leave a half full bottle somewhere... or in the worst case scenario, lugging a bunch back with the allotment in tow.

    Less is more.

This would be my plan as well going forward. Maybe one "whale" stout (whatever you consider one) and mostly IPA's/sours. Everybody has stouts and there are plenty at the taps, you don't need 4 bombers of them to pass around an ounce or 2 at a time.

Last year I bought my ticket at the brewpub as I originally had plans on DLD so didn't even go online when tickets were originally released. How long did tickets last online last year?

Quite a while. Almost a full day, I'd say. When the tickets went on sale, there was the usual shit show of people getting put in queues and all that, but people were still able to buy tickets with no issues in the evening.

Sooooo…. just got off the phone with Marriott about the shit Springhill Suites is pulling and they said they were told " Its a 2 day event ( Sat, and Sun.) and that is why they are requiring a minimum 3 night stay", and that they have been getting alot of complaints about it so they called around and now know they are the only ones that are requiring a 3 night stay, but that they are the closest one to the event so they aren't backing off the 3 night minimum and that is management final decision. So maybe it is a 2 day event this year and they just haven't announced it yet or its money grab by Springhill Suites, I guess we will find out soon enough.

Maybe it's a two day event for the guest brewers attending. Only fair for Nick to take care of the industry folks coming in the night before.

    Fees?

If the fees are pushing a grand, they better be coming with a flight around the world stopping in every major city.
