Good to meet you @bring !

The bartender yesterday told me that the “anniversary” is the 8th, so presumably the main anniversary beers coming out that day

I guessed it was on the 8th based upon when it was last year. That was BEFORE the anniversary stuff this week was posted....

Plus, the day before super bowl is a good day to sell a lot of beer (not that they have any issues...)

City Slickers has always been way overhyped on this thread. Glad to hear you all are wising up after a couple years.

Watch out @crowlcrowlcrowl , @PapasDelicateCondition is coming for that hot take belt.

and disagree with it having been overhyped in the past. I made a same day second trip out to OH from the UWS after trying batch 1 at home after picking up cans.

Stay out of my hot take lane, bro.

Speaking of, Quadrangle Test is wayyyyyy too sweet. These Triples are too much for me.

DDH Powdered Cheese might be my favorite from today. Straight Tang.

Only had time to try one today and it was Nummy. Also very hyped here over the yrs and never had it before. It wasn’t anything mind blowing but I loved it for the creamy dank thing it has going on.

I wasn't blown away either, but it's so hard to drink these beers today and put them in the context of other beer being brewed now. OH is making better beer now. A few years ago when "I" lined up early for the anniversary to snag some 2nd anniversary (remembering it to have been one of the best beers I'd ever had when I had it), I was thoroughly underwhelmed. It was great when it was released, just like most the old beers, but the beer they brew now is so much better.

Similarly, 4 to 5 years ago we'd be talking about Nugget Nectar and Hopslam at this point in the year but I bet most the people reading this thread won't drink either this season (I certainly won't!) It's not that they were bad then, there is just better beer now! Nimble Giant used to be a great alternative to All Green Everything. Now I won't touch it.

Edit: I chatted with Dave at the brewery and he mentioned their struggle with rereleasing the old beers last year. Do they rebrew them as they were or rebrew them with some updates to be more inline with all the better beer they're brewing now? Then (and it looks like now) they've decided to brew them as they were and I appreciate it!

I don't understand the triples. I know they sell the fastest and OH does them better than anybody in the country so they have a kind of demand, but whyyyyyy? The doubles are perfect.

Also Powdered Cheese is great but I'm on #TeamHomecoming. This beer is great now and will only get better.

Definitely will be drinking Nugget Nectar and my annual Hopslam or two. Embrace the bitter.

Homecoming was solid; I think it will do well with a couple weeks on it.

I bought a four pack of Nugget and a six of Hopslam. I have a bunch of new NEIPAs in my fridge too but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the old school stuff.
Oh, and Rob, just curious why you put “I” in quotes.

Good catching up with you Friday and yest at the taproom
I can vouch for it being crowded but not insane at the time rob left, I left shortly after and it started down pouring again so that prob didn’t help.
no “official” post but 2/8 is what should be the legitimate anniversary release with their 6th anniversary ipa

Combination of hype, higher abv and they are more "juice like" since they are usually thicker.

Also, disagree on the bolded statement: EQ, LongLife, and Monkish make better Triples off the top of my head. As you said, OH does doubles perfect, but their triples are usually a muddled, overly sweet, with no balance (More Citra than All Citra being the exception).

Now they HAVE to release No Layups again as these came out together all those yrs ago and both were exceptional (at least back then before palette fatigue ruined us all,

OH triples are inconsistent but when they're good (triple mylar daydream, triple citra daydream) they're so damn good.

It’s easy to understand. This is ‘murica. For a certain segment of the population bigger is automatically better. Triple IPA is better than double. An 11% stout with coffee and cinnamon is great, but one that’s 15% with coffee, cinnamon, hazelnuts and coconut is better.

How long until quad IPA is a regular thing instead of an occasional / anniversary thing?

A lot of the 10+% IPAs are already pretty boozy, dunno why you'd want even more alcohol.
