Dream Forever DDH DIPA also fantastic. Had it Thursday at a pretty nice bar in Detroit, would like to know how old this was, but alas, no canning date. Anyone know when Dream Forever was canned?

They last posted on their Facebook page about releasing Dream Forever on November 20th, for whatever that's worth.

Welp Transient going to distro has done nothing for their consistency with Juice Is Loose. This latest batch they just released out to distro is not at all like the beer I remember. A malty brownish mess of a beer. Have heard their other distro ipa's were on point but the JiL has issues.

The JIL I had on tap the other day doesn't sound like this at all - it was pleasantly citrus juicy with soft pine, no real maltiness, light yellow in appearance. That's really weird, but just underscores the point all of us know about Transient - until they start dating the cans, buyer beware. I won't be buying any Transient cans unless I'm reasonably sure it's a fresh batch and hasn't been sitting in storage 'cos they can't move it fast enough.

Yeah it seems it like people on one of the local beer FB pages are theorizing it was a canning issue and these are oxidizing. One of the posters mentioned that he had cans look like I was describing and those that looked normal in the same four pack. I didn't get as lucky as my whole four pack looked like this.

I have heard that the other two IPA's they dropped in full distro were excellent and had no issues so just my luck I didn't get either of those two.

Picked up some Cromulent today on the east side.
Will crack one later and see of there's any difference from what I remember it being... amazing!

I've experienced many ups and downs with JiL in the past. But in my opinion it almost seems like it's their only beer that has inconsistencies. Also their last batch of their barleywine. God awful infected.

    Are you talking about Brimley?

Because I think Parker is their most recent barleywine, and I don't think I've heard of any issues with that one.

a couple years ago the owner said this issue was due to re-using yeast 2-3 times or something like that ... it's in an old Transient or maybe this thread somewhere

When the Transient is fresh, it's really good. Enjoying both Unspeakable Joy (DDH w Strata, 6.5%) and A Vibe Is Forever (DDH w Vic Secret, 8%). Also grabbed a can of Ascension Fifth Stop DDH Pale Ale (Citra) - it's good for a pale, but a bit of a style mess. I wanted it to be juicier than it tasted for how hazy it looked, but ended up mostly just having a nice earthy dankness - good, but not great.

Good to know on those two Transients brews...saw them on the selves the other day.

Tried Ascension's latest Tikhal beer.....was not a fan at all. Don't know if it was the hop mix they used but it had this musty flavor that just overpowered what ever other flavors were in there. Was not a fan of that one.

Despite the hype for the brewery built off Gorilla Juice and other brews, I have never been very impressed by an Ascension hazy beer (or sour for that matter).

I had the latest Tihkal last weekend and while I didn’t think it was bad, I don’t think I’ve ever had a beer that smelled and tasted so much like weed. It was crazy.

I just missed out on cans of it, but the pour I had was tasty! They had a lot of different beers on tap, and I hope that continues!

Agreed on that actually....its very one note flavor wise to me. While typically enjoy them, they just don't hit that next tier for me.

It is probably me and the hop variety that they used. I can't remember which two hops they used but their is one or two that sometimes have that flavor to me.

Alright y'all. I was truly shocked at how good the two new NEIPAs from Eastern Market Brewing-offshoot Ferndale Project were - Salad Days and Seeing Green. Went to the grand opening on Saturday. Both were excellent, firmly in the Austin Bros/Arvon/Wax Wings haze tier for me, just a step below HOMES but not far off to be honest. Both were really nicely striking the juice/dank balance, creamy, no hop burn at all, really nice fruit juicy notes that perfectly complimented earthy, floral hop expressions. I was really impressed. Seemed like a significant step up from what they can do on the tiny EMBC brewing set-up. I see they've hired a brewer from Ascension, excited to see what the future holds for them.

X Murks The Spot and We Can Juice It from Austin Brothers hitting distro. Both are good but not great IMO. I like that AB has a very distinctive and recognizable creamy/thick body and mouthfeel - these coulda just used a bit more vibrant fruit notes coming through. Both quite dank, sort of biscuit/bready.
