Oh, was it? Makes perfect sense now that you mention it.

That pomegranate molasses is a wonderful thing. Initially I never would've guessed it was there (can was a little too cold at first) but as it warmed you could really pull out some of the fruity notes it has. Works great with the yeast. As much as I like belgian candi sugar, this was a great addition. IMO the pomegranate hit a lot more notes than the candi sugar does.

What a great dubbel. Up there with Ommegang Abbey Ale as one of my favorites from the US

If anyone sees Cupid in south jersey could you post. I don’t have time to go searching but I loved that beer and would gladly buy a four pack if it’s around.

The nitro cans showed up at RW Pennsauken last year so I'd expect it this year. As of last Tuesday the only new Carton beer @ RW was Lagom (which was absolutely delicious by the way, coming from someone who absolutely loathes licorice)

Did you get any licorice in Lagom?

Just about zero, thankfully. Maybe a very subtle herbal/minty/eucalyptus note near the finish.

Thanks. Heard the same but haven’t tried it yet myself.

No problem. Did you have EWR-MIA? The amount of spruce in that is basically the amount of licorice in Lagom. More like suggestions of flavors than actual notes.

I’ve loved all of the Highlander beers thus far, with Andres probably being my favorite

thanks for that. of all the "dumb different than everyone else" beers i do i think the highlanders are most misunderstood, . and it gets worse the more people put fruit into kettel sours and identify them as "fruited berliner." so those words mean A LOT to me
the ideas of the highlander weisse's are something a bit zippy for the people in our tasting room and community bars that hang out with the beer group but prefer wine.
they are meant to be bright and acidic to appeal to white wine drinkers so I hide little flavors in the back ground to suggest a vinous complexity to that end. none of those additions are meant to be flavorings, just flavors.
not sure if that makes sense but it is the intention.
just happens they are pro-biotic and electrolyte rich as well so they keep being talked about as million things they aren't.
    there just "quaffing beers"

No problem. Glad I wasn't too far off the mark. "flavorings vs. flavors", couldn't have explained it any better. Your beers are always a lot of fun to discuss and I'm excited to see what weiss beers will be next; keep 'em coming!

EDIT: btw I kinda lied....Larry is probably my favorite Highlander you've put out thus far, followed by Tangled Up ("version 2.0" -- the one with the lower abv), then probably Andres. Next time I cut up some cantaloupe for a batch of fruit salad you've inspired me to make a side batch of salted cantaloupe w/ lemon juice.

welp these conversations are why there is a carton at all so thanks for keeping them going .tangled is the wife beer and larry is the dad beer so obvi both are very close to my heart

but if you've ever opened a 4 year old monkey and put it next to multi-vintage pink krug you will know that it is probably the best effort of the group .

    de nada! :beers:

I had no idea Tangled Up had a personal connection as well. Cool stuff. Funny how when you have a personal connection or inspiration from something (i.e a relationship or love) it can yield a very high quality product. I'm a big fan of Maine blueberries and the tartness Tangled Up had really reminded me of them (nothing at all against NJ blueberries, which are quite delicious...I just really love those small ME "wild" blueberries)

Speaking of produce, I'm slightly surprised we haven't seen Jersey tomatoes, Jersey corn or Jersey peaches end up in one of these. Before I get flamed for mentioning tomatoes in a beer: it can be done properly in the right hands under the right conditions (see Plan Bee "Bloody").

Tomato & sweet basil...maybe a little redemption for that disastrous "pizza beer" from a long time ago lol...the possibilities are endless! *ducks and covers*

wasn't there a "panzanella" beer? That had tomato... not sure if from Jersey.. which are the best as we all know...

Are Boat cans no longer stamped with canning dates? Picked up a 4pk on Monday with no dates on it.

Went to a liquor store on my way to a farmers market and got initially excited to see "The Hook" Enigma, but apparently the ~case or so remaining was from June.

Didn't check odub dates, but they also still had basic coffee. things are kinda tucked away and possibly hard to find/see (they're also generally more than the shop across town)
