Not sure where to post this. My family is repatriating back to the US next month. Just learned the company will not allow the alcohol on the shipment. I am asking if any of you have experience with sending a collection independent of household goods and corporate assistance. I have 450 bottles I need to move. We live in Luxembourg and are moving to Texas. Thanks in advance.

Have you reached out to local freight companies and asked them? I would call around to all the local guys who ship and just ask if they can help and their cost. Once you find someone I would contact customs to speak about any legal items to ensure your shipment is not taken then just pull the trigger on the best price if its able to happen.
I think your cost will be pretty high since you need to pack it for breakage and also may need to insure it with shipper based on total cost in case of damage.

On a side note maybe stop by a few local breweries or wine operators who ship product and maybe one will be willing to ship for you if you pay all costs, they may have solid shippers who are used to dealing with this stuff.

Maybe you can ask the shipping company that has charge of moving your household goods if they can ship your beer and bill you separately for it. It might arrive at the same time that you get everything else.

Otherwise, drink it down as much as you can and liquidate (no pun intended) the rest.

I would do this myself, they are taking all your items anyway just pay separate for the booze and be done. That or throw some killer parties and spoil your friends you made before you leave.

You could also contact your flight carrier. 450 bottles might not be able to all go but you could surely pay for a crate to be checked. I've certainly checked a large box of nothing but beer on flights before and while you might have to pay a $50 or $100 baggage check fee I've always found it to be well worth it.
you most likely have some customs technicalities to worry about with that level of volume though

Depending on when you are leaving and what the bottles are I would drink what I could and ship back the bottles you really want to hold onto. It gets expensive to ship 450 bottles and unless there are some rare beasts it might not be worth the time and money.

    Enjoy

Tape them up and write "GLASS - Pickled Eggs", "GLASS - White Wine Vinegar" and "GLASS - Grandma's Bean Soup" on the boxes.

Which "company"? The one you work for or the moving company?

The employer won’t allow it. And the moving company won’t ship it separate.

Ship using the equivalent of UPS or FedEx. Some shippers will ship alcohol with no problem. Ship in wine boxes or use judicious amounts of bubble wrap. If the shipper will not ship alcohol, toss in a pair of sun glasses and label the box handle with care sun glasses. I have received shipments of beer labeled "yeast samples. Beer of Belgium and other European beer sellers ship to the US. I have never had a problem with their shipments. Find out who they use.

Have any friends there in the military that can ship to an APO?
