If there weren’t bottles, it would have been super chill.

there was a point near close On Saturday night In Windsor where they gave people in the line the option to get in and drink their pours but not be able to buy bottles , only about 10% of the line took them up.

When they did close, one guy totally lost his shit at the front of the line. He was screaming that he had two young children with him, like anyone forced him to bring his kids. It was pretty awful for the door guys, but hilarious to watch.

If for some reason the bottles are infected, do they give you your 12 hours back?

Except that adjuncted stouts sell for $20-30/bottle (or if you're Horus, $40-50). Younger is $6 for a glass. Not sure what bottles cost, but I'm guessing $10 or less.

Not saying they don't make money on it, but it's hard to compare with BA adjunct stouts with the crazy price tags that go along with those.

Regardless of whether they're making a profit on the physical beer, bringing that much business to their locations is for sure good for... business.

With friends, it can be fun as fuck. I've only waited about 5 hours max, though. My trips to the source for Younger have been without question some of the most fun beer-related days ever.
Has anyone actually admitted to going just for bottles? Cause if that's your reason for going, you're doing it wrong...

It sat in bars for weeks last year, the majority are going for the bottles...

Bottles are going for $10. At least for PtE i have to drink it within 2 weeks, might be longer for PtY but it might just get sweeter. I can save Adjuncted Stouts for a few months unlike an IPA.

I'm not sure if any of that's relevant to whether or not they are selling the beer for a profit.

Essentially bringing friends to an insanely crowded restaurant for 9 hours still sounds like an absolutely dreadful time to me. That basically gives me the anxiety of an overly packed restaurant threefold.

Way too much great easily accessible beer out there.

More so standing for 5 hours just to get into the restaurant sounds awful. At least with other bottle releases, we're having a line share.

Someone stood in line for hours, got to the front of the line and then RR closed?

Yeah, I guess a more apt description would be being put on a six+ hour wait list to get into an insanely crowded restaurant, which is even worse.

They have bottles allocated for the 2 weeks but can sell out that days allocations. As expected people want bottles and could care less for pours.

Same. I'd be willing to go after work, but don't want to make that 2 hour drive up and have to wait 2+ hours.

Still a 5-6 hour wait if you got in line after 11, if you're there before 8 you should get seated around noon.

This has to be the most asinine way to do a bottle release. These guys have been around long enough to know that's the worst way to go about a bottle sale. Every brewery I know has learned from this and separated bottle sales from anyone that wanted to drink the beer/get food and hang out.

I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir here, but they absolutely could make it more often. But no one would care about it if they did. If nothing else, they are definitely smart enough to know that.

The elephant in the room... The owners of the RR clearly have their reasons not to make it more approachable to the customers. 16 years is more than enough time to figure out what exactly you want to do and achieve.
