They were giving out samples in line to everyone which was nice, since it convinced me that I definitely wanted it.

 

Sold out at both locations as of 5ish is what I was told

 

Then you were told wrong buddy. I just strolled into Lincoln and grabbed some. Still a healthy amount left in the fridge.

 

haha, wow, guess the gal at balmoral was really tired of answering the same question.

 

Saw they posted 1.5 cases left. Just got home but 20 min away. Ugh.

 

Cans officially sold out. Still on draft.

 

Glad I picked up a two pack but also not sure I'd rush out to buy this one again.

 

Yeah I decided to suck it up and grab one as well. I think I might prefer it to Benthic (I'm not a big coffee stout guy and Benthic is my biggest exception), but it's close, and I may just be getting sick of Benthic after buying a bundle online, ha.

 

Love seeing the hype around these cans. I was really hoping that this leaned towards a vanilla benthic, which it didn't as it is mostly cinnamon to me... but it is still very tasty. Very very balanced IMO. You actually taste barrel on a BA stout, which is somewhat of a novel concept in the age of sugar bomb stouts that drown out barrel.

 

Not really a novel concept. You're just drinking the wrong BA stouts.

 

It was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek. There is no denying that the BA stout market is oversaturated with much sweeter stouts than even 2 years ago.

 

So I didn’t really get this with my draft pour yesterday, but just finished my first can. And by the end of it, I completely agree. It’s nothing like Chemtrail, but it’s definitely like a Handjee lite with added cinnamon. I think I enjoyed the can quite a bit more than draft. But could be that I had more time to enjoy it think about.

 

The DL Variant Lite is the perfect descriptor for this. Cheers!

 

Sounds painful...

 

HA says to let the beer sit for 15 minutes before drinking; I prefer to get a sip straight from the fridge, but the beer definitely changes as it warms.

On a related note: How great is it that HA is now dropping BA stout bombs randomly? This was an extremely refreshing change from the typical "release event" that this sort of beer sees.

 

It complements the Icy Hot well.

Typically my stouts aren't even in the fridge. That's me, though. Drinking a can now and man this stuff is singing to me. Even better than my draft from yesterday. Have a pour of Buffalo Trace beside it. May rescind my buddy's 2 pack and keep the remaining 3 cans for myself...
