Speaking of Victory, I just saw a new sour IPA from them. Anyone try it?

I also saw it this week. A sour New England style IPA. It threw me off beer shopping this week and after reading the 4 pack I immediately went to the import section and grabbed a case of some Croatian pilsner.

Does anyone know when Classic is going to hit shelves? I haven't seen any announcements.

Karlovacko a case of 20, 500ml bottles was about $40. It's a Heineken brand but a nice beer that drinks fine.

After seeing Victory's new IPA and a handful of new ones with lactose and fruit something in my brain said get a normal beer.

I saw some Untappd check ins from the Charlotte spot Victory shares with Southern Tier and Sixpoint, but no cans so far. I’m looking forward to trying it.

Is Classic just their Helles rebranded or is it a different beer? I was talking with an employee at their Downingtown location a few months back and they made it sound like a rebranding

Ditto response I heard from multiple D'town employees....rebranded in cans versus Victory Helles in bottles and called Classic Lager.

Is Hometown Lager still being brewed? I have not seen it lately and I really like it.

Does this mean that Helles in bottles will be discontinued?

    Cheers!

What a minute - I "LIKED" your post (and "LIKED" the beer) but something didn't seem right...

I take you - and I - were thinking of Home Grown Lager?

See, Victory, that's what happens when a beer disappears...

But there was a contract-brewer a few years back that brewed a number of Hometown- and State-named beers:
    HOMETOWN BREWING Co.
    (Brewed at The Lion IIRC).

The Victory website lists different hops for the two beers. Hallertau for Classic and Tettnang for Helles. Same abv 4.8%, but untappd lists slightly different ibu for the two 15 vs. 18. Seems to be a different recipe or at least "tweaked".

Hahaha, yeah my bad. I haven't seen it in so long that I forgot the name! Home Grown Lager.

Ok, in attempt to clear up the continuing confusion as to what the hell is going on concerning current Victory Helles compared to the about to the about to be released Classic Lager which u accurately described in ur response to the thread, I talked to the General Manager @ the D'town brewpub this evening. She informed that the "branding coordinator" informed her that the bottled Victory Helles (and I assume the draft version) will no longer be available starting tomorrow when only 12-oz canned Classic Lager will be introduced and only be available and I assume also in a draft version. It appears to me that the saddest part of this decision making process was that a definitive decision was only communicated today to the brewpub staff.

How times have changed at my once favorite Brewery. To me and many others, Victory held a place in our hearts the same way your favorite local sports team did, unfortunately I no longer feel that way and they've just become a commidty to me

Thanks for the additional information and this is sad for me to hear, as I do enjoy Victory Helles and turned family/friends on to it too. It sounds like the EDL will be a worthy replacement but of course I will need to see how I feel after I drink it. I saw freshly stocked Victory Helles on the shelves tonight and something told me to grab a six pack, will definitely need to before it disappears.

We Helles lovers have been taking a few lumps lately, losing both Victory's and Stoudts.

Thank goodness that Sly Fox Helles Golden Lager is still around. This beer is the best of the bunch for my palate.

And, if you have the financial wherewithal Tired Hands Trendler Helles is a very good beer.

    Cheers!

Victory was always pretty boring imo. Now I only started getting into craft beer around 2012-2013, so take it for what it's worth.
