    Shaken, not stirred I presume.

Hahah - joking aside I actually prefer stirred and that’s what I do when making them myself.

But despite being nearly 40 (cough what am I talking about - I mean 50), I’m still not comfortable adding in the shaken/stirred part to what’s an already very long-winded and pedantic-sounding ordering process. So yes it was shaken. Not by choice.

And actually that’s a nice segue into another relevant topic. I know chain restaurants can be divisive in this thread - but I had my martini at the place I consider to be the crown jewel of chain restaurants - Hillstone. Going last night reminded me of this great article I read a little while ago about them:

I'm currently working on a bottle of Nolet's that I treated myself too. I love martinis but every time I add vermouth it just ruins it.

haha I’m not that hardcore but I definitely like it on the dry side. my current go to is Old Raj + Dolin Dry. 10:1. Stirred and served up with a twist.

I even tried one suggestion of just swirling the vermouth in a glass and dumping it out before adding gin. I'll give yours a try.

that's how my dad likes his martinis. i always thought he was just being high maintenance with the bartender, but i guess that's a thing...

I got that. I’ll be holding on to the remains of my current 4 pack for a while, hoping for improvement. Right now, it’s too hot, green and sweet for my taste.

Now back to your regularly scheduled martiniadvocate.com.

If that didn’t work then I don’t know if you’ll like mine. But it’s fine. The way you drink it is the way Churchill did. That should be sufficient for anybody.

Yeah that works.....if you’re a basic bitch. No seriously I used to prefer an olive but now much prefer a twist. People change...

Ouch. Harsher than a phenolic smoked beer.

Just had MoGa and Green Down to the Socks, in that order. MoGa had this distinct flavor I really couldn’t put my finger on but it wasn’t an off-flavor. Also it had a bit of a backbone of this thing called “malt” that I thoroughly appreciated. Also, using MoGa as an abbreviation is an issue. What about Mosaic Galaxy? Is that MoGa too? Is is it MosiGa? MoGax? As a group we really need to figure this shit out.

Anyway, Green Down to the Socks is fantastic.

I've always found the triples to need at least 3+ weeks before they meld. I broke on the anniversary beers, but otherwise I almost entirely avoid them. It's just too big and boozy for something OH does well at 8.5%.

Looks like Bottle Logic jumped the gun on their Pastrytown post, they're bringing:
Fundamental Forces, Roll for Initiative, Study Break and Nazja

The post also has Brooklyn Brewery's offerings:
Black Ops, Black Chocolate Stout, Pastry Ops (Other Half collab) and Three to Make Ready (BA Wild Ale collab with Jester King & Southold Farm + Cellar)

I don't follow OH with any regularity, but am coming into town for PastryTown. Does OH usually post all beers in advance or is it just slow leaks from the attending breweries?

Black Chocolate Stout was the beer that singlehandedly sent me down the American craft beer rabbit hole, so I have mucho respect for it/them. And it’s super cool that Brooklyn are involved.

But realistically - at Pastrytown - how much BBCS or Black Ops is getting consumed?

I think last year they were pouring beer through some kind of ice cake?

And @Grave252 they will post the whole list ahead of time.

Sadly, my take on the 8.5% beers (specifically MoGa and Down to the Socks) is about the same. Maybe just my unrefined palate.
