Home, and post dinner, following a fun afternoon at HBS for their 3rd anniversary party where I drank/tasted some mighty fine beers. In addition to the awesome tap line up, as always an informal bottle share sprung forth...sitting at my desk I’m contemplating my good beer fortune earlier, and drinking a Jai Alai now:



For the bar party I knew would ensue, I brought a 2018 BA Birthday Cake Black Aggie, by Hidden Springs:



And a 2019 Hunahpu XQuic’s Maple Barrel Aged Imperial Stout:



And on tap the bar had JWB’s 5th Anniversary Stout:



Then a group of Rare Barrel sours rolled out, some Lambick, and a 2013 Cascade Sang Rouge! Another tasty day at my (old) hangout...

Saw old friends, met new friends...Great times/great beers! Happy trails y’all!

 

Nice Change of pace.

 

Not at all what I expected. 16 oz HempTails Hemp D can. Super crisp, lemony, ginger aley, sweet/tart balance. You get a decent amount of hemp on the nose. Very interesting. I like it. It’s probably a great summer beer around a camp fire. Local retailer is dumping it cheap, so I’ll have to scoop up more. Anyone know if the flavor fades badly over time?

 

A fantastic beer in what I believe is my new favorite glass.

I just drank my last one. I knew you would like that one its a great NEIPA. On of my favorites Ive discovered as of late.

 

I wanted to go to that show but was out voted 1 to 1. Cheers.

 

BCBS Café de Olla Stout

look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

Poured into a DFH tulip. Dark brown body over a small tan head which dissipated quickly. Smell of coffee, cinnamon and a light bourbon tinge. Taste mirrors the smell but you get some orange tang on the back end. Booze taste is understated for alc %. Mouthfeel is slightly thin for such a big stout. A very good BCBS variant. I don't think aging would improve this, in fact it might make the coffee fade too much but, that's why they do experiments.

Celebrating the birth of a granddaughter (no name yet) on 2/20/2020 (almost a palindrome). Born about a month early so Sláinte baby girl.
