SAN DIEGO (February 18, 2020) – Approaching their 25th anniversary, award-winning AleSmith Brewing Company raises its glass to big new changes… and an exciting new release for 2020!

“As a brewery entering its 25th year and regarded worldwide, it is crucial to keep a fresh look, while maintaining the hallmarks of our brand,” owner Peter Zien says. “We couldn't be more pleased with the soon-to-be- unveiled rebranding exercise completed with Blindtiger Design of Seattle.”

The new bold and modern designs pay homage to AleSmith’s roots of hand-forged ales, and maintain the anvil as the cornerstone of the AleSmith brand. Beautifully stylized fonts and logo placements create a uniformity of the brewing company’s various labels that are both pleasing to the eye and informative in style. And as always, AleSmith’s customers can expect to encounter a world-class beer pouring from these new cans, bottles and draft handles!

“As a member of the craft beer community and culture, we take a lot of pride in working with one of the most esteemed breweries out there,” says Blindtiger’s Creative Director and Founder, Oceania Eagan. “We knew a brand update was needed to reflect the respect that the brewery has gained over their 25-year history, to better communicate their story within this increasingly competitive market.”

The onset of 2020 also marked AleSmith’s debut of Forgeberry Ale. With its vibrant ruby color and bold “refreshingly tart” taste, this low-calorie raspberry ale is named after AleSmith’s iconic anvil logo and the massive amount of delicious raspberries used in the brewing process. Forgeberry is the company’s first year-round fruited offering and follows on the success of RKS; AleSmith’s popular seasonal raspberry gose.

“Our fans can’t get enough of this beer,” says Ryan Crisp, Director of Brewing Operations. “We are excited to offer a low-calorie option that has a ton of flavor. We spent a lot of time experimenting to hit the perfect balance of sweetness, tartness, and drinkability. And at the end of the day, this is the beer that we all want to drink. We’re pumped with how it turned out and we think beer drinkers of all types will love it.”

Forgeberry hits a sessionable 4.9%-AbV and only 120 calories, and is AleSmith’s answer to a flavorful, well-crafted fruit beer that aligns with the preferences of calorie-conscious consumers. The result is a beer that is refreshing, flavorful and easy-drinking.

Forgeberry is currently available in the AleSmith tasting room and throughout the broader retail marketplace. Look for Forgeberry Ale in stores throughout AleSmith’s distribution network.

Pictures or link to pictures of the new designs would be good

Edit: nevermind, I see its “soon to be unveiled”. They kind of jumped the gun with this press release.

They make one of the best IPA and stouts.

Don’t see them too often around here though

    Enjoy

To heck with the modern need for a brand refresh and 120 calorie raspberry beer. I long for the days when their strong ales were available in my area. Curious about their status, I just looked at their website. It seems like all that's left of those beers are the bourbon barrel aged version of Old Numbskull and bourbon barrel aged version of Wee Heavy. :persevere:

I'm curious which strong ales are you looking for? Speedway, Old Numbskull, Wee Heavy, Horny Devil are still all being brewed, but not always available on the website. They did a rebrew of Decadence 11, a barley wine weighing in a 15%, in 2019. Don't lose faith. Big beers are still a large part of their business.

And BA Old Numbskull from 2019 in an under the radar excellent beer. Looking forward to trying 2020 soon.

As for the raspberry beer, its not high on my list. But I'll probably try it at some point.

When I say strong ales, I'm referring specifically to ales in the British tradition (even if Americanized) such as Old Numbskull, Wee Heavy, and Olde Ale/Private Stock Ale. I miss Old Numbskull, but I'd revisit all of those if they were still available to me. If still brewed, they don't make it out to these parts anymore. It's nice to know that they still brew some of those even if they aren't included on the website. Personally, I have no interest in BA versions, and get a bit sad when a BA version ends up eclipsing the original and becomes the only version. Cheers.

I love their stuff, but we rarely get them around here anymore, other than the Sublime Mexican lager, which I’m sure is excellently crafted, but it’s still just a fizzy yellow lager.

I don’t see the IPA on the web site. Love that beer.

I love speedway but can’t pull the trigger on the cans. The large bottles were $12 and now the cans are $8-9 each.

Can’t say the last time I saw anything from these guys but speedway cans around here.

    Enjoy

Their prices are kind of high. Add to the fact that Speedway Stout is in 11.2 oz bottles, I dont have much enticement to buy their beer anymore.

I had this pour last week at the brewery and it was very good. Full rich tart raspberry taste, slightly dry, easy clean finish. Really great looking beer (pictured in this SD Reader article), would definitely order again. Also had their IPA, a cask conditioned Wee Heavy pour, a very good Belgian (Grand Cru) and of course a .394.

AleSmith is one of my favorite breweries because they excel at many different beer styles. I love switching it up across styles during a brewery visit, and they never disappoint. Then I return to Chicago and have Thai and Hawaiian Speedway Stout available. It's great to be alive.
