So for the oak aged chocolate Yeti, are you of the opinion that I should let it age a couple of months before I open it?

I just picked it up last night and haven't checked the date yet. Just curious for opinions since I've not tried Yeti or anything by Great Divide yet.

I need to revisit all these. IIRC, Chocolate Yeti was my favorite. mmmm

    Unless it's BA Yeti

Also, some prefer their imperial stouts to have a hop bite of one degree or another (I know I do).
For example (beyond discussing Yetis), I like Hoppin' Frog B.O.R.I.S. the Crusher, but I love D.O.R.I.S. the Destroyer. D.O.R.I.S. has a hop bite that balances nicely against the char/roast/coffee/chocolate flavors.

I find the regular Yeti delicious fresh or aged. Not sure how the chocolate one ages, but is is certainly delicious fresh. Its got the perfect amount of cayenne pepper, man its good, I'd probably drink that one sooner than later but who knows.

I just picked it up last night, thinking about drinking it this weekend. If I like it I'll run back and get some more.

One of the best year-round imperial stouts on the market. I prefer Rasputin though

Let me know how it is. I found it here in Ireland (right next to BCVS... who would have thunk?) but its damn expensive (15 euros) so idk if its worth it.

I kept going back and back to the regular yeti at a local beer tasting event. The mouthfeel was perfect and it had a solid flavor. Love this and their old ruffian. Good prices too, especially for the variants.

Will do. All the hype here in the thread has me excited to try it. I had heard of Yeti and I love a chocolate stout so when I saw it on the shelf I just decided to pick it up on a whim.

I go to the store intending to buy a sixer of SN Pale Ale for the football game on Saturday and spend $75. Happens every time.

Out of curiosity, what did you spend on it in the US? I'm trying to decide if I should wait til I come back and bank on finding it (I come back around Christmas) or if I should just buy it here.

The oak aged espresso is by far my favorite. Its tastes like a pot of chocolate coffee.

To my knowledge, the Oak Aged Yeti is aged on oak chips, not in barrels (don't quote me on that, though). Certainly no bourbon or other spirits involved in that one.
Their 750ml Barrel Aged Yeti is, obviously, aged in barrels. Their website says whiskey barrels for at least nine months.
Regardless of how they do it, it works.

I too have found old bottles sitting on the shelves -- found a 2010 Oak Aged Yeti at a shop in San Diego a few weeks ago. Seems odd, as good beer usually moves pretty quickly around here. Any ideas why?
