Best local option is Blackbird Bistro. If your Airbnb is Highland lodge, it's maybe 5 min away. HF on tap, good burgers, and fantastic mixed drinks.

Parker pie is alright and has a good tap list, but their food is pretty greasy.

Thanks for the replies! We are staying at the Lakeside Lodge in Glover. It looks like Blackbird Bistro and Parker Pie could both be good dinner options for us.

Since we're heading into Canada the next day and we won't have much cold storage during the trip, we'll be limited in how much beer we can buy at HF to take home. I'm thinking this trip we'll have to be satisfied with enjoying tap beers and grab only a few cans/bottles to go so that we don't have to do too much explaining or counting at the border in either direction (from what I can tell, each person is allowed up to a case of 12oz cans, but it looks like things could get messy when you have higher abv or 750ml bottles). I haven't taken beer into Canada (or back into the US from Canada) before, so if anybody has a different experience on this, I'd be glad to hear it. Unfortunately, our drive from Quebec back to MA will be on the following Tuesday, so we won't be able to swing through the brewery again on the way back.

Don’t think cold storage will be a problem up there

Actually it's almost the opposite problem. It'll be a choice between letting it sit warm in our hotel room, or letting it sit in our car, where it could end up exposed to subzero temperatures and freezing!

Just bring a cooler and you’ll be fine. Enjoy

If you’re worried about beer freezing like the above poster said put in a cooler. Also bring some blankets and towels. Stuff the cooler with beer then with towels. Finally wrap the cooler in a couple of blankets. It could probably survive subzero temperatures for quite a long time. If it’s a brutal arctic cold event you could even fill the cooler with some water as well from the hotel room and that would help keep the beer from becoming too cold longer as well. I used a similar strategy to keep beers cold in Florida. I did not have a cooler In June. I had to park my car in a parking lot for a few hours. I bought the beer cold then I wrap them in every blanket like thing we had in our van and they stayed relatively cool...

Not myself. Does Universe do all of the grunt work? Or does HF get the results and then need to go back through and remove double winners, etc.?

If the former, my guess is they'd go out pretty quickly but I've yet to hear of anyone that heard anything.

I think Universe. HF said they just get a compiled final list.

I was there on Thursday. Stayed in Waterbury. I left the beer in my car as I have done before, and Friday morning I found that all 5 growlers and 2 bottles of Flora exploded. First time that happened.

It was about 10 below zero on Friday morning. One of the coldest mornings we have had all winter.

    Bummer.

That being said, you didn't think it wise to check the weather?

Sorry, that sucks. If I’m staying overnight, fall or winter, any time really, and as big of a pain in the ass as it is, I lug everything into where I’m staying up there.

Keep cold stuff can go into a fridge in my room at Stagecoach, for example, and or kept in the cooler inside and bottles bought at room temp can be kept that way.

Especially up there, keeping tabs on the weather is key to avoid these situations. Better safe than sorry.

Had this happen to me years back. Don’t leave flip growlers in the car in winter up there and if too many cans to bring indoors, just bring a cooler next time. It’s not a fun situation when you have that smell in the car.

I haven't seen anyone that hit here or elsewhere.

I did notice a bottle was up on MBC around the 18th though.
