    Hey advocates,

It’s finally Saturday and I’ll allow myself a couple beers today, starting with this classic just before noon and lunch:

Thanks for starting the thread, @Shanex! I’m up watching an interesting Showtime documentary on New Order and drinking this breakfast beverage.

I’ve been a good boy today, getting chores done and everything, so time for a reward. And what a reward! This is Educated Guest by Cloudwater, and it’s PHENOMENAL. @Beer-Panda Cheers, BA, I’ll be around quite a bit today. Sorry about that.

Thank you. It took me 4 years and a half. Getting new beers here is not that easy, reviewing them is another thing.

Roughly had 150 Belgians, 150 American and a few dozens other beers from various countries. Also many posted in this thread are regular to me so...

While I didn’t attempt dry January I have really lowered my beer intake for the past two weeks and it’s slowly paying off. I want to lose at least 10kg or about 22 pounds before the summer. It’s all beer belly, the rest of my body seems just fine. Cheers!

Went out for a bit of shopping today. It's rainy and grey and cold in ever sunny Copenhagen today so I went in for a beer and a warm seat at a favorite pub of mine.

Tiny Rebel's Caramel Toffee Stout at 5.2% ABV served on cask.
I'm a big sucker for Tiny Rebels beers and this is no exception. Creamy mouthfeel and filled with sweet notes of vanilla and, obviously, caramel and toffee. I don't know of a lot of "new school" breweries that makes cask beer but Tiny Rebel always delivers. Cheers everyone!

The GF said this was Open That Bottle Night. I was a bit impatient:

Bretta Rose has been in the fridge for a while, bottled in 2016. Nice moderate amount of somewhat cheesy funk on the nose with a similar level of tartness on the tongue. This held up well for my tastes.

Due to the fact that I am in the processing of reading Jim Koch's book "Quench Your Own Thirst: Business Lessons Learned Over A Beer Or Two" (Flatiron Books, 2016) I am drinking Samuel Adams Lager, which I have to say is a quite flavorful beer for being a lager. And I do recommend the book as well. It is an easy and good read with some interesting anecdotes in it.

Good morning BA, hope life is going great for you. Sure is for me, for the most part. I am well past 5 weeks sober at the moment. It was a really necessary experience as I come to find out. I hadn't even been sober for over a week in 9 years. Anyways, its nice to have my head on straight now. Never been clearer headed in a long time. I got back into reading and had time to reflect on myself alone. Big fan of Tom Clancy and WEB Griffin. I like military, law, and spy books a lot. Went through 12 of them since January. John Grisham is also amazing. Also got a James Patterson on deck from the used bookstore 2 days ago. Will be what I do before bed every night from now on.

Of course I knew I was drinking too much in the back of my mind, but after I hit the 2 week mark was when the mental epiphany really happened. Why was I spending 10K+ a year on beer worrying about if I never tried every beer available to me? FOMO as some may call it, yea I don't see a need for anything other than a casual interest in seeking out stuff anymore. Why was I spending every waking moment posting on here? There is so much more I could be doing with my life. Of course Gaming is back, along with Guitar. I got my SG set up at the shop and got my electronics rewired. My mom came up and visited me all this week to get my re-situated. Been enjoying a lot of good food since I am not wasting calories on alcohol. She brought up my 50W Ibanez amp as well. Really a killer amp. Unfortunately there is a bit amp buzz going on with it right now. I did some research and I need to break it down and replace the capacitors on the power supply. I did a quick youtube search and it will be easy. Just need to buy a soldering iron and a multimeter and it will be good as new.

I will be back to reviewing again eventually, but I made a pact with myself to celebrate once I get a new job. Having not motivation to seek out anything new was my downfall. Being paid 15% less than you are worth always was in my mind. I am seeking out some Chassis or Systems Engineering roles right now. I haven't used NX in 10 years, but it won't be a problem. Looking forward to finding a different company and area to work to freshen myself up a bit. 8 years in working with program management along with working multiple product life cycles from concept to launch will be nice icing on that cake. Add in some DFSS knowledge on top of it. Just need to work on my taxes for the year and this will be my best year of all time.

Slept in today...back from long walk through the neighborhood with Ava...beautiful clear crisp 55 degrees morning...coffee time! Lagunitas’ “Willettized Coffee Stout” aged in Rye Oak Barrels (2019):

Winner winner chicken dinner, this beer tics all the boxes!

Pours black with ruby edges at 59 degrees; tan colored thick finger of tight-knit foam; long cap retention; medium heavy lacing and solid thick ring; thin plus legs on swirl. Strong dark chocolate nose; booze on exhale; roast coffee. Semi sweet chocolate, toffee, tootsie roll followed by bittersweet roast coffee; no booze but some oak; mild roast malt finish. Medium plus body; dry barrel and/or rye tongue coating; some warmth in mouth from 12.4% abv. Overall, another tasty BA imperial stout from Lagunitas, with a fullish, dry mouthfeel; bitter roast notes balance nicely with sweet malt foundation; long roasty linger on the palate; excellent value for the money.

Good day BAs! Starting off another sunny and warm day here in TX as opposed to snow back home, not much though, as it's been a very mild winter. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

    Very unimpressive brew, IMO.

Grimm double negative up next. Double Negative pours jet black with burnt orange highlights. A long lasting tan head leaves abundant lacing. Aromas bursting from the glass include espresso, bitter chocolate, caramel, black currant and blueberry. Creamy and viscous on the palate, the flavor initially follows the nose. A pop of smooth bitterness comes after, and then a lingering, roasty finish. Cheers
