Bear Hands in Putnam, CT opened this weekend. That downtown is trying to turn itself around. Nice to see.

Does this thread suck or what?
    I blame brewery fatigue.

It is, there are so many great options right now that no way I visit a new brewery within a month or two of them opening. Just let them get the growing pains out of the way first. BUT some of them are worthy of an immediate check-in: maybe the taproom is a great hang, they are down the street from an under-served population, etc.

BayState Brewing in Worcester apparently opened yesterday.

    Interesting.
I didn't realize they didn't have a taproom until now. I have been seeing their beers around for years. I just figured it was out west somewhere.
Where were they doing their brewing?

I think they were brewing at Opa in Williamsburg. Same brewery where Brewmaster Jack brews.

Backbeat Brewing and Coffee Roasters in Beverly will most likely be opening their doors within the next month I'd guess.
The owner is one of the best people I've met in beer and has been brewing for many many years. Taproom is right across the street from the Beverly Depot commuter rail location.

Pure speculation but it seems like Coles Road is finally getting close-ish to ready, lots of construction shots on their instagram stories over the past month or two - looks like bartops installed, test pours from the draft system, live edge lumber deliveries etc.

Only took those stoners two and half years?

I just looked through their Facebook posts. I talk about Great Awakening seemingly taking forever but this is on another level.

Six Pack Brewing in Bristol RI had their licenses in order and were getting ready to open - before the end of the world came and shut everything down. I imagine this is going to be a really tough time for fledgling or not quite open yet breweries.

Right? Great Awakening and Oakholm are in similar positions up here in MA.
Oakholm said they were opening in April as recently as a couple of weeks ago. They are already a functioning farm with weddings and agritourism but I don't know if that puts them in better or worse shape.

Where in Bristol RI are they opening? I wonder how that will impact 12 Guns Brewing?

Appears to be 1/2 mile away. Around the corner on Gooding Avenue from Metacom where 12 Guns is.

Also, Antler Ale Works to open on W Park Street in Providence will be delayed by the virus. They were looking at opening in a matter of weeks or a couple of months I believe.

Man, where were these guys when I was at Roger Williams???
Admittedly it was 20+ years ago, but I was already into craft at that point.
Is 1776 Liquors still there? At that point I found all sorts of interesting beers there.

What percentage of craft breweries operating today were around 20+ years ago?
That is like saying, "This iPhone is way better than my first cellphone. Where was this 20+ years ago?"

We just called them microbrews back then. They did exist though. I went to a microbrew 4 hr tasting session with over 50 breweries at the WTC in Boston in 1994. Then the Bayside the year after.

My point was more about how there wasn't necessarily a brewery right down the road 20 years ago like there is today. I live in the middle of nowhere and in 20 minutes I could be at any of five (soon to be six) different breweries including Tree House. Only one of which might be 20 years old. It is just a much different time for beer right now. However, they might not all still be there in a few months.

    So...
Oakholm Brewing in Brookfield, MA is pulling the trigger. They were supposed to open in April and it looks like this Saturday they are opening their doors, so to speak, for the first time ever with the curbside pickup only model.
I was curious how breweries across New England in this same situation were going to respond. It must be kind of sad for owners that put in years of effort to hit an opening deadline only to have it unexpectedly delayed. Not to mention the potential financial burden. I was keeping my eye out for Great Awakening in Westfield, MA thinking that they were actually in better shape to do this but I guess only time will tell.
What do people think of the decision?
    Have other breweries done this?
