Yes, I do joke. And yes this is sadly true.

    $4$ my friend.

Honestly in most trades I don't even square up the money that well. If they have something I want and I have something they want, I'm not going to nickle and dime it.

Guess that's why I don't get KH for my Boxers Revenge.

Did get a Lady of the Woods though. :grinning:

    Slight tangent! :grinning:

But seriously, $28 for Funk Metal at Hopfields? I know there is always markup at bars, but this seems to be an almost 100 percent markup, based on the price point JK quoted earlier. With 200 cases being released, I'll wait until it hits stores.

    Yup. Exactly.

Not justifying it, but this is better than $25 for Le Petit Prince.

What do you mean? Boxer's is more than KH. Average price at distro for KH was 14.99, wasn't it? Unless you're talking brewery release KH which I recall was 23$? Either way, I wouldn't trade a KH for a BR.

This exactly. I recieved a box of the Woods series for JK. We were both very happy and he, like everyone I've sent a bottle to, has requested Boxers as often as possible.

I certainly hope that BR is the first of the rotating beers to go full time. Has anyone opened a batch 1 bottle recently?

Keeping it all in one location does us another favor really. When a dozen locations get one case each, the employees get nine bottles and maybe three customers actually get one. When it stays at Smith...it actually does hit more hands. Pain in the ass, yes, but it does enable some to get it.

Beers like Funk Metal at places like Hopfields are usually about twice retail price and Boxer's was $15 at Central Market, so $28 would be in line. Doesn't mean I like it, it's just the way it is. Restaurants have more overheads than bars, who have more than stores.

I treated myself to a bottle of Bonnie at Red's Porch when I thought they were all gone, but I got one a week later at Westgate. I don't recall the exact numbers but the bottle at Red's was about double the retail price.

that was my point... with $4$, Boxers would have gotten more than KH, but we all know you could never land a KH for a Boxers unless you had a well established trading partner.

I've never been graced by the taste of KH. It's on my list of bottles I'd love to try, but figure I never will. It's on the list right by Rare. lol

^^^This. Rarely have I seen bottles go for less than double retail price at a bar.

Oh I know, I just don't like it. I could understand if something was really rare or if it was already gone, but in this case I guess its because they have it a little earlier than everyone else.

KH ends up at tastings all the time, also Rare isn't as fantastic as people lead it on to be. As awesome as it is to sip, I honestly would prefer an 09 BCBS over a Rare, probably because, at this point, the barrels taste the same.

    JK beers are awesome.

Wanna taste the closest thing to Rare? Get a Parabola...

Wanna taste the closest thing to King Henry? Get a Bourbon Barrel Abominable...

Rare, and King Henry are both good, but way over hyped, for there are better beers of their styles out there...

Brandon has Funk Metal on the floor at D&Q, limit 1 per person. Believe it was $16.99, though I could be mistaken.

    More BB, too.

I saw that. Can't get out there though. I'll go ahead and say I won't get any FM since I can't get downtown mid afternoon during the week due to employment. lol

I doubt Specs or HEBs in the Westchase area will get it.

I'm glad I'm in management and close enough to run out. There was lots there and it's bottle limited. Maybe tweet him asking him to save you a bottle?
