Take her to the neckbeard petting zoo early. Lines get more brutal as the day goes on.

Adults piss and crap pretty much anywhere they want. Even puking is ok. Napping in the grass is cool. (There are pics and videos all over the internet). So, there is no reason for kids not to enjoy DLD. ... Just make sure your little one does not play in somebody else’s poop, pee, or puke!

Be sure to read the fine print. Kids under 12 only get half of an allocation.

Since they haven’t announced price yet we’re all assuming when tickets go live we’ll be greeted with that tariff-caused inflation price due to Chinese cardamom Dark Lord, right?

In all seriousness, it does seem odd that we are just under two weeks out with no pricing info yet. I guess we can almost assume that nothing is changing.

I don't think it's odd at all. They always wait until the last minute for details. Plus, who knows if they are even going to have it given all the coronavirus cancellations.

Between the people passing stuff around and drinking from the same cups, the beer pre-poured at tables waiting to be sold, and the bacterial evaporation from the porta-a-johns, this years is just asking for trouble

It's asking for trouble every year. If DLD hasn't already produced new strains of viruses each year I'd be shocked.

Seriously, though, you're drinking alcohol. If you are actively drinking fluid of any kind, let alone an antiseptic like beer, the likelihood of catching anything like this is very low. Not to mention, near 100% of the people attending this festival are "healthy" individuals that are not geriatric. This virus is largely targeting the elderly with preexisting conditions that exacerbate this particular illness.

If you live in an urban center, you probably come into contact with more sick people every day than you will at DLD.

Actually, she got it because you took an Uber to go eat at Portillo's the day you weren't at DLD because it was cancelled.

Wow didn't realize just quite how paranoid people were, particularly in a beer forum, particularly in a DLD thread. Yeesh.

I am reluctant to call the people passed out in the grass or vomiting streams of whales, “healthy”.

Also, beer really does not have enough alcohol to qualify as an “antiseptic”. And when you throw in fruit puree and lactose, it is even less of an antiseptic.

I'm not particularly worried about getting covid-19 myself, but I have family members that are severely immunocompromised, and I am worried about transmitting something to them. I don't think it's crazy to think of festivals and the like as being "unnecessary risks" for a lot of people.

Then again, I work in the Loop and get here via public transportation, so I'm unfortunately already rolling the dice on a daily basis.

Your definition of healthy is very limited.

It could be argued that a person of that sort is able to fend off far more than your average person, even in their current state. Some of the heartiest people in the world are also some of the least savory among us.
Actually, it does. In fact, beer today is far more antiseptic than it ever has been. Throwing in the extra fruit might actually not only make it healthier for you (not that alcohol is healthy, but that vitamins are), but more in line with historical levels of alcohol.

A huge aspect of the history of alcohol is to hydrate oneself with non-potable water, often by adding only a few drops of alcoholic beverage to the water. And, back then, alcoholic beverages were far less potent than they are now. FAR LESS.

Take mead, for example. People around here think of Schramms, Garagiste, Superstition, or Pips, but what those meaderies make is not what mead originally was. Mead was MUCH lower in ABV up until very recently.
