Does it matter if Handjee is infected if we all have Coronavirus?

(Who knew that it would take a pandemic to bring back the nonsense?)

Just in case it’s not clear, I’m not minimizing the seriousness of Covid-19, it’s absolutely going to infect everyone and the only reason our numbers aren’t worse in the US is because we’re following the Russian playbook (can’t have an outbreak if you don’t test for it!) but I’m just saying there’s no way Indiana does anything about it that would effect the fest because our local politicians are stupid and also don’t care.

I don’t have asthma, I’m not a senior, and I don’t have a risk of death, so I’ll probably go. I just won’t go visit grandma afterwards.

    Foolish mortals!

On another note, I’m gonna have to say I’m on @Sabtos’s side. Most of the populace that would be at a fest like DLD has nothing to worry about. Classic fear mongering by the media. But to go as far as to say people are going to get sued? Wow. For willingly attending a festival given the risk? I don’t feel like you’d have a leg to stand on.

Quite a few companies I interact with through my work have canceled trade show attendance (or trade shows have been outright canceled), canceled global meetings, restricted travel and even made large numbers of people work from home. I’m sure there are many reasons claimed by my company and others for doing that, but my best guess is that liability is the biggest. Liability if some unhealthy and/or older person gets sick by someone else at the company. Claim could be made by lawyers that the company had not done enough to mitigate risk in light of everything that is happening. Whether you or I think it is fear mongering, over-reacting or otherwise is irrelevant because companies will choose to protect themselves from liability and bad publicity the best way they know how to. Because of that approach already been taken by a number of companies, it wouldn’t be shocking to me if 3Floyds made the call to push DLD back or cancel it.

My plan is relatively simple: if tickets are there, I’ll buy them and go. If they cancel the fest in the meantime, I’ll get my moneys back and move on with my life. Either way, I wouldn’t be drinking from any nasty communal beer cup regardless of how antiseptic the beer is. It’s just gross.

This is the real question however. Do the terms of service for a cancellation promise a refund? Or would they just cancel the fest and give you a new date to pick-up your bottles from the back of the brewery without refunding any money?

The idea isn't that people are afraid to get the virus themselves (I mean, some are), it's that they're hoping to keep it relatively contained. I guess I'm a little surprised when entire countries are now self-quarantining and shows/conferences/etc. are being cancelled left and right, that people are so up in arms at the idea that DLD would also be cancelled/postponed. I don't think anyone actively wants DLD to be shut down, it just wouldn't be weird if it were.

Then again "it's just beer" is basically never the case in this forum

edit: yeah, I agree - I have a hard time making light of this. The whole situation isn’t about the individual, it’s about populations. And, interrelatedly, the economy.

Do your part to stop the spread. Wash your hands frequently. Stay home and drink down that cellar.

I think people are up in arms about people being up in arms about it not being cancelled. I think the hysteria is shameful tbh. Good luck quarantining America.

The "economy" is already tanking thanks in part to our management of the situation, and the mass hysteria people like those in this thread are susceptible to.

Yes, wash your hands, yes, be responsible, but don't walk around paranoid or negative all the time, and think you're going to get it, because you'll probably will it upon yourself. And don't stop living because of it.

Indiana and IL have now both declared a state of emergency over it.

In typical metal fashion FFF countered by announcing the first two, ill conceived variants-

COVID-20 Worldwide- A virtual open air market of Dark Lord triple barrel aged in Spanish Moscatel barrels, Italian Moscato barrels and Alexandrian Muscat barrels. Seasoned to perfection with a blend of cinnamon, lactose, 5 spice powder, cardamom, maple syrup, craisins, rose water, kumquat peel, walnut milk, avocado spread, and headless gummy bats.

Wuhan Hot Sauce- Whatchu think those night sweats are from? Sometimes you have te fever for more fever. Dark Lord aged in barrels from Three Floyds Distilling's first run of Barrel Aged Baijiu with local Wuhan picked Tien Tsin Peppers added.

If you weren't washing your hands already, at least before you eat, you are a filthy animal. Just like i wash my hands after i use the porta-john every time at DLD. Which is particularly important later in the day after i have filled my gullet with BA stouts, exotic yeast beers and doner kahbabs
