[looks at current exponential curve, checks Ro, reads a little:

On the same day of #SXSW’s cancellation, biologist @LizSpecht posted a widely read Twitter thread in which she forecast as many as 4 million COVID-19 cases in the U.S. by mid-May, and 2 to 6 billion cases worldwide by July https://t.co/6muJjofkzJ

Yep. Yep. Definitely will be fine by then. Mike Pence definitely has this under control.

Right, just like the models predicted that we'd all be under water because of global warming by now. Do you know how many assumptions this individual probably had to make to develop this model? Is the sample size she is using to derive her model statistically significant? and her range of worldwide cases is basically useless. she might as well just say that everyone on the planet will get it. i'm not a biologist, but i bet i can build a model that shows only 1 million infected total.

Alright, I’ll bite. Aside from crazy, religious prophesies, what model predicted that we would be underwater by 2020?

Yes, I agree she has many assumptions - and she admits she isn’t an epidemiologist. It’s simply a thought experiment / back-of-the-envelope calculation based off her skill set and on publicly published numbers.

You’re right. Totally no chance of DLD being cancelled. *cough cough*

I'd be less worried about coronavirus and more worried about Sabtos's designated driver...[IMG]

I don't even remember which option means it's canceled and which one means it's on!

Good luck getting tickets if this trend holds. They will sell only 250 tickets for $5,000 a piece and the allotment will be 133 bottles of DL each and 20 random variants each, but you will be given only 1 FFF branded tote with a 6 bottle capacity to carry them all to your car on the other side of the industrial park. On the plus side the bottle share limit has been moved up by 12 oz....

Dudebro, I farmers carried 24+ bottles about a mile from the fest to a ride share pickup spot last year and my arms were sore!

Regarding the 1 million infected total model, it looks like people “in the know” have something different in mind:

[and on a serious note - no one should panic. Please just stay informed. I just want you and your communities to be as safe as you can be. The more people understand and act logically, the better off everyone will be.

Think about how short the variant draft lines would be though.

I heard they are condensing to one tap line, a firehose, and no cups.

you purchase draft not by oz but by the second.

Maybe a bit of hyperbole. Most of the current models don't have us all dying until 2100. I do not attest to the veracity of this article but it probably has as much credence as any other scientific article picked up by MSM.

    https://miami.cbslocal.com/2015/10/14/predictions-put-south-florida-under-water-by-2025/

I think that just means that if things didn't change, Hollywood would be "guaranteed" to be under water, not sure when the exact date is. hard to tell exactly how it is written.

what i was getting at is acid rain, the ozone layer, SARS, Ebola, were all supposed to kill us.

It's worth considering but to post the original article you posted as fact is disingenuous at best.

    Yes means it's getting cancelled.

No means it's not getting cancelled.

Didn’t mean to present as fact. Article linked says early on:

“Specht’s calculations, however, appear to be a worst-case scenario. “While well-intentioned, these forecasts are still assumptions, some of which are based on misleading data,” says Patricia Sung, epidemiologist and manager of infection prevention at the University of Southern California’s Verdugo Hills Hospital.” ...and then goes on to say “trust the CDC.
