Easy now. I'm not trying to attack you, but address legitimate concerns about a specific event.

I cited a similar sized event, in which the promoter/host issued a statement.

Getting back to Grovers inquiry, it is not much to ask....and sounds like CCB answered him privately.

I'm inferring that it would be responsible of CCB to address this publicly, given the global scope of their event.

Do you really think a public statement of reassurance is too much to ask here?

Let's relax as this unfolds. Many events are being cancelled around the country. It's out of our control. Communication is the key.

The St Pete Grand Prix has announced the race will go on as scheduled. As for Huna, I'll bet it goes on as scheduled, except maybe with a little more fresh air than planned. The weather is fantastic, with no rain for at least 10 days. The owner of Amalie owns the Lightning and a lot of that part of downtown, and is tight with CCB. With the breweries probably here or on the way, it's too late to throw in the towel, IMHO. Jeff Vinik won't screw anyone. The basketball was a NCAA decision.

Appreciate memeing it up. I'm more of a "the lack of a response is your response" kind of guy though. They guy was saying CCB was playing ignorant and I don't think that's the case. No other events have been cancelled, the breweries are obviously still coming, the event is still on. I understand people want to be reassured, and I can agree that it would be nice if event organizers did that. I don't expect it's gonna happen though and my saying so doesn't mean I agree that's how it should be.

In all seriousness, if you're coming in from out of country and are concerned about the virus, my real suggestion is don't come. The US is woefully unprepared for the magnitude this could take on, and our president is more concerned with keeping the reported cases down so that he looks good.

According to Bay News, the local officials are holding a press conference at 10:30 AM. My guess is, they call for a cancellation of any event exceeding a certain number of people. This has been the trend across the country. For example, Ohio was the first state to do this, which lead to the first NCAA cancellation. My guess is the decision will be taken away from CCB, Amalie, or any of us beer nerds.

Hopefully we’ll have an answer on that one way or the other. I leave to drive to the airport at 10:30 today. Flight is at 2:30. Don’t want to waste the money on the flights if Hunahpu’s is canceled.

There's a lot to do (and much more enjoyable weather) besides hockey arena Huna day. I'm sure you know that, but I'd still go if all that was already booked.

At the Grand Prix, "general admission attendance" has been cancelled. USF will hold all athletic events without fans.

Yeah. I’ll make the best of it. Only one other guy in our group that usually goes could make it this year and he canceled yesterday, so I was doing the trip solo now. I just don’t want to spend a long weekend alone drinking by myself if Hunahpu’s is canceled, even though I know there are tons of other great events (which we were planning on) and things in general to do. It’s just that Hunahpu’s is prepaid already and I don’t want to eat the money especially on the bottles.

I think they'd find a way to make it right if they had to cancel. It's so close I can't imagine they'd cancel now, but who knows.

It might not be up to them. Any moment the governor or someone with power could make an order prohibiting gatherings the size of hunahpu’s day.

If anyone hears the outcome of the press conference from this morning, please share it here. I'm supposed to leave for Tampa tomorrow morning and would punt on the trip if the fest isn't happening.

The Hillsborough County Commission meeting just ended, they authorized a local state of emergency that gives them the authority to regulate the movement of people to, from, and within the county, but did not consider a motion for a specific use of that authority. It does not appear that they will take the decision-making authority away from the brewery or the arena or whoever has the call.

    Felt this coming.

The scope of the event is too large, and too diverse of a demographic to risk it.

It was the amelie arena that pulled the plug not ccb. Rumor is ccb will announce an event to drink the kegs within a week or 2.
