Beer events impacted by COVID-19 concerns

God I hope not

 

Basically, no gatherings of over 250 people until further notice.

 

Isn't that basically a cancellation? Yes the ticket holders from this year get to go to next but it's only once a year. Seems weird for them to use that verbiage.

 

From the announcement
"all ticketholders to the 2020 FWIBF may use their existing tickets to gain admission into the 2021 FWIBF...
We have no plans to offer any further tickets for sale to the 2021 FWIBF at this time."

Maybe they're calling 2020 invitational postponed because they won't be selling tickets to a 2021 invitational?

 

I don't know whether this event typically has dated commerative glassware at the event, but it sounds like they are reserving the right to call next year's event as a 2020 party.

 

Any public gathering looking out at least 30 Days will probably be cancelled. Probably much longer, we’ve just started this stuff here so I’m guessing 3 months at a minimum. The CDC Doc was thinking 3-6 months, but this is a new animal too.

Dark Lord Day has been postponed until further notice.

 

Cher's concert in Casper has been postponed.

All sporting events have been canceled.
A movie theater is staggering sitting to keep a, hopefully, appropriate distance between viewers.

 

Blue Point Cask Festival has been rescheduled for November 7th.

 

What's with all the bans on growler fills? How is it any different than filling glasses?

 

The bans I've seen locally are only on growlers brought in by customers. They'll still fill growlers purchased on site. I just think it's an extra precaution because they don't know how thoroughly a growler has been cleaned before being brought into the establishment, and don't want to take responsibility for any possible contamination.

 

I know, I just figure MAYBE in 6 weeks time things will have settled down, but it's not looking good from what the powers that be are saying. TAP is my favorite fest and we look forward to it every year. It is what it is.

Brawley's Black and Blue that was going to be Friday 3/13 was cancelled.

 

The waves of panic buying that ran through Charlotte area on Thursday reflect just how little folks understand anything about this. I had folks asking me (work as MD in big system) if they thought the worst would be over by end of April!

IT HAS BARELY STARTED. More people were shot in Charlotte than diagnosed with coronavirus in last 2 days but numbers will go up when testing is more widespread and as the disease spreads. Festivals will likely be cancelled for months. Some models predict peaking in summer but no one really knows-yet. Strict measures may lower the peak but also delay it. Will it follow seasonality like the flu? This is a longer haul issue.

One local bar went to disposable cups-throw it away yourself, put out lots of sanitizers. No one knows exactly what to do but lowering exposure by reducing crowds and staying home when ill seems most likely to be the most effective.

I see low turnouts in bars, breweries and areas where folks gather. Small groups in the backyard with your favorite single serving container may be the new norm (and safer choice) for months to come.
