I think strong coffee and/or strong beer can play so differently on different palettes. I’m sitting here really enjoying pressed reserve (4.5/5 imo) ... asked my wife to take a sip ... when she tasted it, she immediately pulled her head back and said “green pepper”.

First of this series I've had. It's a well made beer no doubt, but yeah, in complete agreement here. The interplay of the lactose sweetness with the coffee is discordant imo. It seemed to worsen as it warmed as well. Not a fan of this particular release.

I certainly enjoyed Pressed Reserve, but I would have preferred it to be less sweet and let the coffee stand alone (ignoring there’s probably a debate on the quality of the coffee).

Pixel Density might be the only IPA I’ve really enjoyed. I’ve only had maybe 4 or 5 of the releases though.

I quite liked Whimsical Nature and Abstract Technicality, so thought they were turning the tide. Didn’t care for Contoured View, but that’s because of hop preference (not a big pina colada IPA fan). So was really excited for the hop profile of Stars, only to be completely disappointed. I’m hoping my second can tonight I will enjoy more.

You may want to consider letting it sit for a bit. Their stuff tends to be pretty green initially. They said they were trying to take some steps to correct that, but I thought Stars could benefit greatly by some time.

Yeah just had Reserve for the first time. Coffee bomb, which is normally something I love. Just wished it was Dark Matter or Intelligentsia (yeah I know not independent)

I thought the same thing, but I usually enjoy NEIPAs green, as I like the hop bite. I don’t like them when they have very little bitterness and taste like straight juice. But Trio I think that may only help a bit. Mouthfeel was on the thin side, and I recall a slight effervescence I didn’t care for. But we’ll see, I’ll wait a bit for my next can just to be sure.

Agreed. At that point, I might as well make a screwdriver with a seltzer water.

I second what seems to be the consensus around Trio of Stars. I had really high hopes based on that dream combo of hops, but each of them ended getting lost in the combo so that it turns out to feel watered down. No depth, no softness, meh mouthfeel. It's fine but should be way better based on hops and pedigree.

This is the first Pressed I missed after grabbing all of them to date. Sounds like I'm not missing much but if anyone wants to trade the new one for some hops let me know. I've got some HB and past P3 and Riverlands.

Trio Of Stars was underwhelming to me. Not awful, not even bad, really...but I'd pass next time around.

Picked up my Curvature Batch 5 today...I'll probably crack it during quarantine season, "as a treat".

    Anyone had it yet??

Seems to be the consensus on Trio of Stars. I was really excited given the Galaxy, Citra, & Mosaic combo that I almost bought two 4 packs. While still a pretty solid beer I am glad I only got a 4 pack. However, I am regretting only buying a 4 pack of Unwind Your Mind. While on lock down I can def drink more Unwind Your Mind and Double Beezer (glad I am near OIB).

Still need to pick up the new Pressed but thinking to open a Pressed Hazelnuts which are outstanding IMO.

Pressed Reserve was the first release I had in the series. I'm a coffee fanatic, and this one sang to me. Coffee lovers wet dream! With the second can I'll back to back with KBS Espresso.

Spoiler Alert: Regardless of the coffee maker, Pressed still wins this fight. Like Tyson in the 80s wins this fight.

Got extremely lucky that a friend lucked into Pressed after he tried four other locations. Agree with everyone else's praises. We opened one yesterday and it was borderline perfect. Coffee shines through and a perfect mouthfeel for a high abv Porter. Definitely my favorite series of beers running right now...

Alright, I'll throw in a TG Mornin' Delight as well. Be up and drunk for days.

very weird all the “underwhelmed” responses to Trio of Stars.

my first thought was it’s very similar to Galaxy Bowl, but with more hop complexity

but maybe y’all are trying to kill the hype to better your odds so...

Looks like they're selling bottles of Quills (Horus collab coconut neapolitan stout) out of LZB right now?
