At Twin Elephant now drinking Lil Shimmy Ye’ . Only 6 other drinkers here. They are and have been selling a lot of growlers. No flights or small pours only pints and 11 OZers. Down to only 7 brews there were 10 on Thursday.

given recent tri-state proclamation, looks like they or any other breweries won't be open going forward...

This is bad news to say the least. I wonder if they could be allowed to open for growler fills only.

Hopefully they already plan to do this but they should consider canning much of what’s in tanks as it becomes ready and prep for to go sales only to the extent it is allowed. I know I’d support them on that living close by.

probably gonna be a run on iron heart and Tripod and other mobile canning operations.

may be a VERY good time for them to invest in a crowler machine and some crowlers. can run the troon business model for the foreseeable future.

I would much rather buy 32OZ growlers than a crowler. Just hope that they can do fills,

i rather be able to have a flight and bs with some friends, but alas...

unfortunately with the way things are going - if they want to remain open - they're going to need to get people in and out as quick as possible. Much quicker/cost effective to just bulk fill crowlers and hand them out like a normal can sale. it's also safer for their employees as they have full control of sanitation of the process and with contactless payment they don't have to touch anything a consumer touched.

it has to be pre packaged I would think... people lining up in the taproom waiting for fills is contrary to what's trying to be achieved...and as mentioned, hygiene and increased person to person contact is more a concern with growler fills...

though interestingly Magnify announced going retail only, and only doing fill of NEW growlers, purchased from them, essentially relegating new glass growlers to be single use... not very consumer or environmentally friendly...

at least trillium was giving out the growlers for free. and yeah, as if we don't have enough glass growlers.

Can't work, you can't pre can up to 10 different beers. The last thing in the world they would want would be to be sitting on 32 OZ cans of beer they did not sell.

I'm sure TE has an idea of which beers they tap would be selling the most. You get a primary run of the hazies, a few of everything else and then you crowler as necessary to meet demand. Hell they can even do preorders to really minimize social interaction.

I'm also sure that given the current climate, depending on how far this carries on - breweries are going to scale back production.

How many cans can a crowler fill in an hour?

with the right sanitary and precautions to ensure proper sealing and limited o2 - a 32oz crowler fill should only take maybe 15-20 seconds longer than a 32oz growler fill. The seaming part is fairly quick (<5 seconds). If they run a 2 person team they should be able to do at least 30 an hour, 40 once they get the hang of it all.

I'd be down for as much cans as they could muster, but I know that's a tough one. Tight spot for everyone to be in, I hope they figure out a way to keep themselves floating.

I wouldn't mind lining up outside - gives space to keep proper distance. They could hand out right out the bay door?

from what I see it seems like they operate pretty conservatively, not levering up to expand rapidly, but instead funding out of organic growth - so hopefully that affords some buffer for them

Hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. We have been busy pivoting to be able to support packaged beer for pickup and eventually delivery direct to your crib. Starting today we will be rolling out support for purchasing newly filled 32oz. and 64oz. glass growlers from our online store. You can find the link here in our profile, there will be a pop-up with a link on our main website, or you can go directly to https://shop.twinelephant.com.
    .
When you make the purchase you will select a day and hourly window for pickup so that we mimize the amount of people coming during any given hour. We will check IDs on pickup to match against the orders in the system. Unfortunately we will not be refilling people's growlers at this time.
    .
Big props to @ashtonbrewing for letting us borrow their crowler machine and starting today we will be packaging off some beer in 32oz crowler. You will start to see these available online for purchasing tonight. Also, we have scheduled 16oz canning runs for next Thursday and Friday of Split the Megahertz, True Believers, Wepeel and potentially one or two other beers for release in four packs so if all goes well we will add these products in the mix and update folks here with another post. Our focus is to get as much beer in aluminum as possible and move away from pre-filled growlers. Let's be honest we all have more then our fill of growler glass and aluminum is a better vessel for the beer.
    .
This is a tough time for all of us and as always we humbly appreciate the support. We hope the suds help provide a hint of normalcy for you.
