For what it’s worth, pub quiz company Geeks Who Drink suspended operations today, laying off all staff nationwide. That’s more than 500 full and part time workers. Multiply that across the thousands and thousands of bars, breweries, restaurants, and other venues forced to close now and in the coming days. And even when this has passed, only a portion of those jobs will come back.

Unfortunately 2 squares a day refers not to the meals brought to kids out of school, but the toilet paper limit at our local store. Was that bad enough?

For those who know old country music, all I can think of for a good song right now is David Allen Coe's "Take this job and shove it". Let's go have a craft beer and support the local bar.

It makes me happy to know there are more beers to discover. If they close the liquor store my happiness will fade, fast.

NY, VT and other New England states are shutting down all brewpubs and tap rooms. NY. at least, is allowing them to sell everything to go. So, if you can, support your local brewpub.

Absolutely. I have used humor (self deprecating) to help people that follow me. It works. I posted a helpful hint telling people to reduce the number of times they lick doorknobs and keyboards and someone found a gif of a young girl licking a railing. It gave everyone a good laugh.

We will pull through this. I wonder if we'll be stronger in the end.

Because we should trust the idiots who gave us a $6,000,000,000 deficit. I mean, well-intentioned folks.

Sadly, my local brewpub / breweries are now only open for beer to go. I plan to support them throughout this lock down. I just bought a 4-pack from the brewery closest to my house, a very quiet place today.

I agree we should all do what we can to help out. The least is to be courteous and civil, the best to do what you can to help others.

If you can, and your local brewery has them, consider buying a gift card to help them with a "cash advance", if you will. After this craziness, the craft beer and delicious food will taste even better.

    Cheers to all.

As many have posted, if you can help your local brewery, take out restaurant, or other businesses in your community it goes a long way. I can only imagine the stress of someone who has to deal with this and the fear of not getting a regular paycheck. This is the time to show that the BA community, and folks looking out for each other, can make a huge difference.

Agreed, stock up and make sure you’re buying from smaller independent breweries. They’ve got to be struggling right now.

We should all be kind, of course, but seeing bars close down is very sad to me.

    Let’s hope it passes quickly.

Hit my local beer distributor (Shangys) to see if there was hoarding going on. Did not see that but it was busy. Scored a case of Veltins Pilsner cheap!
