this is amazing work by Kane

EDIT: the only thing I could potentially ask for here is curbside pick up with pre-ordering or some type of delivery, which we could potentially see anyway.

my assumption would be that they're going to try to stock the stores as best as they can first - then look into delivery. Their radius would be relatively small - which makes sense; so they probably want to get as much beer into distro beyond a 10 mile radius first.

Yes, but it says all Wegmans will get it by end of day today, hence my follow up post to your original. I was clarifying only the Wegmans part for people wanting to get some today.

I think an implemented curbside pick up with a preorder online is something great they should do if they plan on selling at the brewery still. I am likely going to go this afternoon. But it would be even nicer to not have to get out of my car and wait around with other people.

Anyone know the price of a Morning Bell keg?

nope. i'd give them a call on that as they don't make the prices public. i'd assume it's north of $130 for MB. but at least there is no keg deposit; one way kegs.

i wouldn’t count on them selling MB kegs, not like they will go bad and from all the times myself or friends have asked.. only core beers have been available via keg.

if that has changed.. let us know! Best of luck

I guess you didnt follow their posts, they are selling kegs of HH, Overhead, Sneak, Cloud Cover, Comet and Morning Bell as of today. They are going to need to, they can't pour and their retail accounts can't either.

In terms of normal times there have been times other rotational have been up, no announcement but its been on the site. Ive seen single fin, party wave, and tiny shells I think, all at different times

“Party Wave @ Wegmans” is literally the best news I’ve heard in the past two weeks or so.

    Thanks, Kane!

So... there is a movement to outlaw plastic disposal straws and thin plastic bags but a brewery that self-distributes within one of the smallest states in the nation sells beer is "one way" kegs? Traditional beer kegs are one of the last returnable/reusable containers and a single-state, self-distributing brewery should have a easy time of keeping track of their cooperage compared to a large regional/national brewer which uses multiple wholesale distributors.

And, a deposit is returnable - the "throw-away" keg's cost is built into the price of the beer.

@jesskidden thanks for point that out. I feel like I’ve thrown slack Kanes way lately so I never pointed this out. Disposable kegs takes the most environmentally friend way to buy beer and makes it the worst way. At least aluminum cans get semi recycled. Plastics are almost non recyclable at this point, very little actually gets recycled. Even if I had a kegerator I would not buy kane kegs for this sole purpose. Plastics fire me up sorry for this long post.

Yeah, ditto for these modern PakTech 4- and 6-pack holders...
I swear that when they first appeared a local brewer said they were re-usable and his and other breweries would actually give a nickel credit for them if they were returned (obviously only at the brewery, not at a retailer). Then it became they'd "recycle" them for you (my town's recycler won't accept them). So, I've got two empty beer cases full of them in the basement...

Seems to me the simple cardboard boxes used by Sierra Nevada, Bells and many other brewers are easier to recycle, simpler to open and remove a can AND offer an easy to read and larger surface area for the branding and the info that many consumers are looking for. Certainly more "consumer-friendly" than trying to spin cans attached to those PakTech while holding them first sideways then upside down for date codes, etc.

wow Enlightening... I was under the impression these are recyclable. I would do the same as you, keep a bunch then recycle all at once?

I know the clear plastic 6 pack holders that are bad for birds, dolphins and other animals are bad too but are they recyclable? They are much smaller and much less waste

I think the technicality is that while the plastic (#2 - HDPE) is in theory "recyclable" they are not "Recycled" - i.e., no company takes them and converts them back into a raw material which can be used to make another product.
From the Monmouth County NJ (home to Kane and Carton) Recycling Guide:
Now, it is possible that breweries that take them back do have a deal with the manufacturers...
Unlikely. Cardboard solves that problem, too.

Don't know where in NJ you are, but Flying Fish in Somerdale accepts these for recycling. They send them directly back to the distributor. And when they were open for pouring beers you could get an almost free beer if you brought in 15 or more (The beer was $.50 because of laws surrounding free beer promotions I believe).

Well I always dump mine in my recycling bin. Don’t know what they do with it after that.
