I think whatever it is that can come through as melon from hops can also easily get into the lotion/sunscreen territory, at least for me. I've really liked the musk melon and honey dew flavors a few times but it seems like the kind of flavor territory where palates can differ widely

Really hating this Kern River/Beachwood Peak Bagger. It tastes like onions. Drain pour for me.

Really? When I had it on tap a week ago at Beachwood it was fantastic. I really hope it hasn't dropped off that quickly

I think it’s probably just a difference in taste. It tasted fresh, but just wasn’t for me

I’ve been enjoying some Altamont Cashmic and Strike Double IPA today... I feel good!

I like this batch. But November’s batch tasted better. I don’t get that sweet syrupy taste. I get a very clean refreshing lite citrus taste. I think November’s batch had more of the original recipe bite than this batch. But I enjoyed it. Canned on the 9th I believe. It’s a shame you can’t try it on tap right now.
As far as Peakbagger? I haven’t opened my cans yet. Maybe today’s in house session. But had it on tap at the source. Beachwood’s version. KRBC & BW brewed 2 versions of PB. At both locations. So on tap at BWLB is theirs and the can’s were brewed and canned at KRBC. I did purchase 2 PB crowlers to compare with the cans. But those were opened and consumed earlier in the week. I enjoyed Peakbagger. Old school west coast ipa. Maybe had a hint of grasslike smell/taste. Lite bitterness. Kerns IPA’s are still some of my favorites.

Saw a handful of Pliny's in the storage room of TotalWine, but couldn't bring myself to nab them...

I thought they might have been held for someone, since they weren't on the store shelves

Glad to see others enjoying the pupil in cans, picked up some in OC dated 3/12 and it slaps my taste buds. Been going back to WC IPA’s for the past couple months. Mayberry, pupil, highland park offerings, pizza port killing it.

Got a mix of wcipa in my fridge. Pupil, a bunch of GC cans, mayberry, steve austin, citra, peakbagger, pig&elder. What I don’t have at the moment is any Beachwood cans. Not cool. On the other side I also have a bunch of haze cans too. West is the best.

God, YES. Sorry, I'm from New York, so maybe I'm not supposed to be on this thread. But I've been searching for a thread specifically for West Coast IPAs and I found this. Turns out this is exactly what I'm looking for.
I also have been so incredibly burned out on NEIPAs. Every time I drink one I wish I was drinking a WCIPA instead. Hell, I recently acquired some Other Half--which are supposed to be god-tier producers of NEIPAs, but whatever; personally I think they're overrated--and I can barely choke them down, especially the ones with lactose. So thick and sweet. Ugh.
...Anyway, I digress. I'll keep this relevant. West Coast IPAs it is!
This Diehard Fan IPA from Stone is amazing. It's the best Stone IPA I've had in a while. It's true to form, hits all the right marks; it tastes every bit as great as I remember all the IPAs tasting five years ago when I first became obsessed with the bitter WCIPAs. Crisp, dry, fruity, dank, and moderately bitter. I wish they made six packs of just this beer.

I've been panic buying WCIPAs -- fridge currently has frosh cans of Beachwood Alpha Neo, Citraholic and Amalgamator, El Segundo Clear AF and Mayberry, Alpine Singled Out with Nelson, and little WCIPAs Ponto and Coachman.

They're all good but I think Mayberry is the leader.
