Yeah, I didn't mean any harm in my post, just an observation from my perspective. Imagine how much they'd raise if they raffled off one rare-ish bottle to each delivery area? Not sure how many deliveries they max out at, but if people are willing to pay for a case of beer right now, they must have means to throw in for raffle for a cause. And it costs OH a case of already bottled beer.

OH is a Brewery, not a 501c(3) organization. They are hurt during this pandemic like a lot of other businesses. Suggesting they should be using past profits to raise money for others sounds nice but it's their business what they do with their money. And who knows what they do behind the scenes charitably whether its the owners or the company directly. Always makes me laugh when people tell others they should be more charitable when they have no idea what they have already done or what their situation is.

I see a lot of other breweries doing good with their profits, and still donating to charitable causes. I'm just saying they have the fan base to make a difference. I'm personally out of work and so is my wife w/ no income currently. Many people are asking us to help and donate money to local businesses and bartenders. They're assuming we're in a good position. I would if I could. I get your point and it could be a wrong assumption of me, but hope they can do more like this if they can.

It seemed to me that he was just making a suggestion/observation. I didn’t get the sense he was demanding anything of OH in outrage. Yup, of course no one can/should force businesses to do anything charitable. It also makes me laugh whenever my fellow posters on BA appoint themselves PR defenders of breweries they don’t work for as well.

I wasn't defending them. There's nothing really to defend. I was saying none of us have any idea what they already do charitably so to assume they should be doing more really isn't fair.

I personally find it an outrage that OH, with their experience working with yeast and microorganisms, has not yet come up with a cure.

This plus how much money they actually make plus what they are already doing for their employees - lots of things we don’t know. We do know that by doing own delivery that it allows them to retain more employees

(To be read in Deniro voice from Goodfellas) Nah, nah, you defended them a little bit.

Oh I'm not knocking you at all. I actually think you sound pretty reasonable. I mean to be fair being charitable/working in the community IS an identifier in the corporate world. There are many IPA factories out there. They can do whatever they want but if they're expanding without distributing like this pre COVID19 they have resources to do some good and get good PR, rather than NYP articles about midnight lines featuring gun waving. there's a reason corporations have community relations directors, and it's not because they're wonderful and generous groups.

If they are doing tons of charitable work nobody on this board can speak to (who myself included spend too much time talking/reading about beer) they need to re-eval the way things are run on the PR/advertising side. I don't think the owners are some anonymous corporate donors across NYC, if we're being realistic.

I haven't had this batch, but if you like their big intense triples, it's been pretty great in the past.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with someone doing what you perceive as defending them when all they are doing is countering someone else's opinion that OH (or whatever brewery) could and even SHOULD be doing more when they have no insight into what is actually being done. I find anyone trying to spin this effort into a negative or as a way to point out how a business may have ulterior motives for trying to help in some small way is being unnecessarily cynical.

the shit people bitch about during quarantine.

"hey we're gonna do something that will help out this group of people"

"well, how come you never did this before? what about this group of people? or that group of people? how come you're not canning water, how come you haven't made water daydream to stock the shelves with milk? i bet you go through a lot of paper towels...."

To be fair, people on here have been bitching about something related to OH for years. Jokingly or not. Or somewhere in between.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you BUT it is my own observation across many threads (and on places like Instagram) that some posters seem to appoint themselves as constant defenders of any criticism leveled against a brewery. Not saying the person I replied to always does this, just I find it amusing in general. In my own reply I acknowledged that I agree no one should force or expect companies to to anything charitable in the first place.

I got Green City and Oh...Forever because I’ve had and loved both of those beers. The store had 4-packs of Afterimage so that took precedence over the Mylar. I ain’t turning down 2-week old Afterimage.

Don't lose focus team- we need pages! Otherwise about the charity stuff...cool. I don't think it will change my opinion about the brewery and if the beer tastes good that's even better.

Now the beer...had Sunday Crunch. Underwhelmed. Sweeter than a Kane-involved porter should be.

Sorry if my post came off wrong or shitty. I thing they're doing right with this and hope they can keep up good ways of helping in the future.

You guys can go back to talking about hazies and crunchies... be safe.
