I've seen exactly what you describe, but never heard of cold break, what is that? I've only had these floaties happen to me with a pretty old can once, but never heard of this before.

When brewing beer and rapidly cooling it a lot of the smaller particles clump together and create what’s called the hot break.

Yeah, it hasn't been the floaties or slurry that trub cans have. It has been like as you have described here.

Does alchemist need to update their available locations on their site ? Seems like they’re distributing much farther south than they are reporting

    From The Alchemist social media:

“TODAY is the last the day our retail shop will be open for canned beer sales until further notice. We are open until 5pm with 10 flavors available! Heady Topper, Focal Banger, Rapture, Holy Moley, Ouroboros, Crusher, Luscious, Schtupulator, Light and Farmer’s Daughter!

In the future we may create a curbside pickup system for beer, but for now, we are limiting as much human contact as possible. Stay tuned for more updates.

From all of us here at The Alchemist, thank you health care workers!”

    From Facebook:

Thanks to Night Shift Distributing for helping us bring fresh Heady Topper and Focal Banger to Massachusetts! Night Shift did such a great job distributing our beer 2 weeks ago (on shelves 2 days after canning!), that we decided to send more this week… And we couldn’t be happier.

You don’t need to come to Vermont to get our beer, we will get it to you! Stay home, stay safe. We love you Massachusetts!

Haha I called up my local store who is on the list and the guy was genuinely angry I called about it. He said they got some last week and they got inundated with so many calls that they decided they didn’t want it anymore and weren’t going to accept another delivery. He then told me he had to get back to his actual customers and hung up on me.

They can send some to Winthrop or Revere ... my locals will gladly take the calls & extra business.

I saw a post or two on Instagram of growlers of HF Edward and S & S that were filled at Armsby Abbey. I assume this is real.

Yes. From the “curbside pickup thread”:

Armsby’s can and draft sales appear to be live.

    https://armsbyabbey.com/draft-bottles/

    Growlers range from $12-28.

4 packs from Brick & Feather, Fox Farm and Kent Falls are all $28.

Literally zero beers in the world are worth $28 for a four pack. I understand there’s probably a greater good here by supporting businesses we want to survive through this, but come on. This place should be ashamed of themselves.

    Don’t shoot the messenger.

I don’t disagree and I have no idea of the arrangement. However, there’s some convenience to getting these cans, Fox Farm for instance, without going to CT. Or the growlers from Hill without going to VT. So, I’m sure for some people that will mitigate the cost.

Smoke Shop and Flower Bakery have a pop up joint take out event going this weekend. They are also now offering 4 packs of Heady to customers at $29 a pop SMH

I put an order through Armsby. I’m ok paying the ‘tax’ and tipping. These places are hurting right now so anything I can do to help out I’m happy to do. Great beer to drink to boot!

He was angry about making money? Wow guess he doesn’t understand how business works, you supply the product people want and you get money for it.
my store, even tho we were really busy, gladly took people’s money for it and once it was gone it was gone

Totally agree with you, sounded like the phone had maybe been ringing off the hook and he didn’t feel it was worth his time. I noticed that store was taken off the distro list so I guess he was serious too about not accepting anymore

What a way to lose money in a time like this. I’ll gladly take the cases he doesn’t want and sell them with a smile (a stressed one) but a smile!
