The optimists may cast aspersions on my palate, but as I have been disappointed in some of the recent OH stalwarts, Untappd reviews have been mostly very good, so I wonder if people just rate it great regardless.

I love the triple crown of OH , hopefully these recent releases are just an aberration. But there is no doubt recent batches of ACE, Mylar and SD were not good.

And of course hats off to @GreaserGreg and team for many flawless releases over the years and especially now in these turbulent times. Most of us on the thread love OH, so much of the criticisms come out of how passionate we are and just good ole fashioned fun.

this is the same guy that was swaggering in here on his walker and telling us young uns to “give it time” when we said something was up, only a couple weeks ago!

Enjoying my last can of Triple Cream, it's a sweet beast but a delightfully subversive beer to pour oneself for a Passover dinner!

EDIT: "Enjoying" is a strong word...I feel like this is what they'd call a good beer in Indiana or Ohio.

EDIT EDIT: Who'm I kidding they'd pour this over breakfast pancakes in Wisconsin.

Considering all of our galaxy troubles (come on space diamonds, enough with this shit already), I highly recommend searching out this recent batch of hoof hearted’s Stackin Paper. 10% all (I think) galaxy beer that is one of the better G forward beers I’ve had in a long time

At what, with the help of several supercomputers and some advanced mathematical models from @algebeeric_topology, I've calculated to be his age, it's a miracle he ever remembers what he says at all. (Assuming he ever does?)

I know you're already friendly, but please bear with him. Our ancient forebears need our patience, kindness, and charity. It's the very least we can give when everything else, from their palates to their minds, has failed them.

Well at least people said this recent batch of Broccoli is great, an OG that is still keeping up

The menu for pickup now has DDH Green City in a black can. I think I must buy purely for the design aspect.

I think we talked about this before, but DDH Green City is a new beer - yes?

Ugh I knew these cans of Green City tasted gross- they're single hopped, blech! At least I have some cans I can angrily chuck into my backyard now.

DDH is SO passé. Where is the HDHC Green City?

Watch out guys, may soon start looking through my basement for my book on medieval torture techniques, successful strategies across WW1 and WW2 as well as modern day warfare and find some likely suspects to apply them to...........

Circling back on this. Not ready to present my deep dive yet as there’s a lot to unpack. But after running the initial traps on ACE - obviously a core competency beer for OH - I’d say that while I don’t think this batch is top tier, I do prefer it to the prior batch. Can’t put my finger on exactly what is flawed, but I’ll drill down further, ideate a little, and revert back.

If I thought the last Mylar release was decent, and certainly not awful, would I have the same opinion on this sd release?

Did anyone ever say how this batch of Space Diamonds is? Because regardless of how good or bad it is, it still has to be better than the previous batch. Tried it again just now and I could swear it tasted like it was served out of an ashtray. It was that bad.

I just cracked a can. I didn’t have that horror batch. I’d say this is subpar but not horribly so. There’s something a little bitey/acrid about it.

Edit - my wife - aka smokeshow aka the palate - just tried it, wrinkled up her nose and said “you like this? Tastes like radishes”. So there you have it

If you really wanted to punish us, you'd just use your Social Security income to hire someone more able-bodied to force one of those repulsive Crunchees down our throats.

On another note, I admittedly lack the elite palate, memory, insight, or whatever else it is, to confidently compare beers I've had weeks or months apart, but in my humble opinion the recent More Citra turned out very nice—as it always seems to. Regular or HDHC, it's a consistently phenomenal beer to this philistine.

We're beyond fortunate that one of our locals produces stuff of this caliber on a regular basis, and particularly during a pandemic in which their whole operation has surely been upended. And they're far from the only one who's working extra hard in these tumultuous days to maintain quality for us while also keeping their people safe and solvent.

It's naive of me, I know, but can we simply acknowledge that as a community and be grateful for it without nitpicking over our inevitable variations in personal taste as if they were the only thing that mattered? No offense to anyone, but that's never seemed more trivial than it does now.
