No mention yet of the 2x cans that quickly sold out yesterday?

    • 2X Hop JuJu
    • 2X Touch of Green
    • 2X Strange Magic
They were intended for World Beer Cup but canned up and sold as 6 packs. Got a 6 of each, can’t wait to try them.

    Anyone crack one yet?

Jeez. Just found out they deliver within a 15 mile radius...and I’m 16 miles away from Middleburg...:weary:

Wouldn’t hurt to give them a call. I’m 25 miles so I didn’t want to push it but I bet they’d go an extra mile, esp. if you give a nice tip online. In the event you can’t get delivery, you can order online, send them a FB message, and they can have your order packed and ready, even can pick it up curbside.

This doesn't just pertain to FH (as Noble Beast and many others have done the same all over the place), but I feel it's a litttttle bit misleading when these breweries submit beers to GABF or WBC and so on under a brand (say, Head Hunter), but it is different from what they always produce with extra hopping, techniques or even different types of hops. So when it wins and you go to buy said beer, beer is not the same as what was submitted. False marketing in a way, I guess.

It's a small annoyance and doesn't really make any difference, but one of those 'grinds my gears' type thing. Beers recipes are always a bit dynamic, adjusting grains/hops as required due to crops and such, but significantly changing things is a bit different and often is not the same beer.

    Maybe it's just me, though.

It's a little unclear, so are those brews extra hopped? That would have been cool to try.

Has Fat Head's actually done that in the past? I couldn't find a list of this year's WBC submissions to see if they were labeled regularly or 2X hopped.

Yes double dry hopped. They’re calling them “2X”.

Eh...I hear ya Invertalon but I don’t get my gears ground that these are “different beers”. Literally everyone does this for WBC and GABF and, shit, half of the BA darling brewers out there today couldn’t brew the exact same tasting beer twice even without tweaking the recipe. At least you know Matt’s beers are made with precision and skill. They would likely cost too much or be impossible to source ingredients to make everyday; pretty cool we get to try them IMO.

They often have slightly “tweaked” or “special” versions on tap during competition season that they’ll tell you are the “GABF” batch (for example).

4 packs of Super Juicy Hop JuJu available tomorrow at the production brewery. They look like official, commercial, retail-ready cans, not like the recent 2X stuff, so hoping for some distribution!!

Matt had a question about former Fat Heads employees leaving to start up their own breweries. I'm curious, does anyone know what breweries those are?

Amish Mike (Hunsaker) left to be the head brewer at the Portland Fat Head’s then left there to open Grains of Wrath https://gowbeer.com/
That’s the only one I know of. @jampics2 may have more information.

Shaun at Noble Beast worked at Fat Head’s. Will circle back if I can remember anyone else.

Hope this is true since the cans sold out before those of us that had to work Friday could get there. Two case limit for a limited offering seems excessive. Like something Masthead would do.

Sorry you didn’t get the really popular limited beer you wanted hours after it went on sale at the peak of an international pandemic. :cold_sweat:

If we stop being petty about beer releases, COVID-19 wins. Cheers to you both!!!

i really don’t care that I didn’t get any - just questioning the combination of “limited” and two case limit. Like your local store advertising that the have hand sanitizer in stock - limit 36 per person.
