Entirely possible, but I've had hop harvest beers from many breweries that I've enjoyed, both at the local (Portsmouth Brewery used to do several with hops overnighted from PNW) and distributed level (Sierra Nevada, Founders. etc.) that I've enjoyed. I've yet to have a NY-hopped beer that tasted "familiar".

I am uncertain how to comment to "familiar" but a few years ago I was in Cooperstown, NY and I had the opportunity to drink a wet hopped beer by Ommegang (using hops grown on the breweries hop farm). I thought that draft beer was very, very good. I even purchased a 6-pack of bottles for home consumption.

It appears that Ommegang brewed a batch last year which they branded as Fresh-hopped Hopstate Pale Ale:

Have you ever had wet hopped beers from Ommegang?

    Cheers!

Still not having any luck finding it here in PDX. Not the end of the world, as there are plenty of other good lager options out here, but I'm surprised it's not yet available in this market (or so I've been told).

Unfortunately for me it seems to have finally hit northern NJ, but isn't being carried by anyplace within delivery range. One month too late :slight_frown:.

I wrote to Bitburger and they told me that a specific supermarket chain should be carrying it. So I went to six different outlets today and it wasn't in stock in any of them. I managed to speak to someone in half of them and two told me that they would not be stocking it, while one vaguely suggested that this was "probably because it's not selling very well", which doesn't exactly come as a great surprise to me.

I’m going to be on the lookout for this one. I thought Braupakt was phenomenal.

Goods that aren't stocked usually don't sell very well.

Braupakt was good... but from a different collaboration.
No? Something to do with that average German beer drinker?
I think I'm reading that as the retailers he visited have already heard that it wasn't selling so they opted not to stock because of that... but that's my interpretation.

I honestly don't think that the Sierra Nevada logo is doing it any favors either, quite the opposite, most likely. For the same reasons I mentioned above. After all, the average German beer drinker has never heard of Sierra Nevada. It just makes the can look more foreign.

Braupakt was never widely available in Germany either, by the way. Only a handful of bottle shops and getränkemarkts carried it in Cologne. Never saw it at a supermarket. The Sierra Nevada/Biturger Oktoberfest wasn't available at all.

I grabbed a sixer at local Food Coop a couple hours ago, so you should be seeing it soon I would think.

Thanks Terry. Hope so. I'm not sure why it's taking so long to get into distribution down here. Checked several places earlier in the week, but no luck.
