I don't think all the folks with Don't Tread on Me Flags flying from their houses and cars are going to follow along for another year.

I don't see any way we can allow mass gatherings like sporting events and concerts without a vaccine. Perhaps we can start holding smaller events like beer fest, but even that will be risky. I'm rooting hard for sports to resume, but I expect to be watching them take place in empty stadiums.

Seriously though, what does that mean? He should have just stopped at VT only. Kept it simple.

Farmer wave bottles appear available. Also, all the shelfie bottles (and Farmer wave) have Julian dates next to the name so you know what batch you’re getting when you order.

The 14 day quarantine language aligns with the states stay-at-home order. As an example, many people own second homes in VT. The governor isn't stopping people from coming to those homes, but you need to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.

I have created this questionnaire to assist those of you that find this complicated.

    1. Are you a VT resident Y/N
    2. If No - have you been sheltering in place for 14 days in state?
    3. If No - you cannot come to HF to purchase beer for the safety of the staff and residents of the NEK.

Thanks for the condescending post. I get what it means. I’m asking how exactly does that get enforced in practice? Beer nerds don’t exactly do well when it comes to any sort of trust/honor system. So unless I’m missing something you (handy list of options to follow):

    1. Stay closed
    2. Limit it to VT residents via ID requirement
    3. Open without any caveats

I could be wrong, but I think the majority of Hill’s customers come from out of state and I’d say very little of those own/have homes in VT.

So, how exactly is Hill going to check that? Agreeing with @RauchbierFan33 , beer nerds aren’t the best at following rules/honesty when it comes to acquiring beer. Especially one that Hill isn’t likely going to be able to enforce.

That was my biggest issue with the post. Happy they have a curbside plan in place, but adding that little tidbit and not just keeping it to VT residents opened the floodgates for out of state, up and back visitors. Not second home owners abiding by the stay at home orders. That’s all.

I'm not trying to join into the argument above, but here is some information.

Vermont has asked for voluntary compliance with the 14 day quarantine, but the executive order allows for civil penalties from $1000-$10000 and criminal fines of $500.

Quote from the press conference after announcement of executive order:
“The last thing any of us want to do is enforce these orders and seek those penalties,” . “We’re asking for your compliance. We’re asking for your cooperation. That being said, we also know that we all have a role to play during this crisis. We’re prepared to do our job.”

I live on the border of VT and NH and to get to work I travel to VT to take I91. I was pulled over once. I showed my hospital ID and that was the end of it.
All of the trucking company employees and first responders in my area have laminated forms to show the police if they are pulled over. (based on what I am told by coworkers who's husband/wife have those jobs)

That’s helpful info, thanks @jhavs. I’m not looking to argue either, but aj made it cut and dry. Sure, clear to me since it doesn’t impact me, but I’m just saying it likely isn’t being sought out by people who saw this as an opportunity to head to Hill from out of state especially with the compliance being voluntary. Seemed to open for the potential for people flouting that.

Yeah exactly. The governor himself admitted at the time of making that EO, that it would be tricky to enforce.

Best thing IMO is to take any gray/temptation out of the picture and stipulate VT-only. If you are both a beer nerd and an out of stater who has taken up residence in your second VT home for the duration, then chances are you’re friendly with some resident VT beer nerds who can grab a 4 pack or two for you.

Another strange thing is that at the 3 bridges between VT and NH that I cross in my area there is a VT state employee sitting in a truck with a clipboard documenting something. They each have their own portapotty set up where they park. I cross two for each work day and the other when I go to the grocery store.

I guess they are just marking off the license plate state, but who knows. Not sure how that information would help.
