I actually really appreciate @Rustytacos posting this because it highlights something very important. I keep hearing (from the same people - check this thread, and check all my trade posts - there's a clear pattern) "Maybe you keep getting burned on trades because of how you communicate with your traders and your "antics". No, it's quite literally a string of bad luck between March and April. Nothing more. Rusty wanted 4 cans for a bottle he had - I went to the release, bought them, came home, and said he actually wanted a bigger trade, which I couldn't do. It was sold out, and I couldn't afford more, so I had to post the cans, and got a good trade for them.

Before that, a trader messaged about certain bottles, said he would do a 375ml, but would rather have a 750ml. I ran out and bought the last 750ml for him, and he backed out because he said, "From what I've seen, you're not a good trader" or something like that (thanks guys! lost $50 over that). Before that, another trader backed out for the same reason, except he referenced a specific trade post and said something like, "With all those people calling you out, I have to assume you screwed someone in a trade, and I can't take that risk with you" - that wasn't cheap either. This Fou trade was another, and I still don't know what happened here.

My point is, I'm not doing anything to lose out on these trades, except buying the beer before the request is opened (some were actually sent). Half of them were traders who saw a bunch of online trolls and assumed that I've actually done something to someone. I encourage any of you to find someone who has traded with me who says, "Yeah, that guy's a risk, I would avoid him if I were you". I think @nomadicbeer is the only trader I've talked trade with who would say "yeah don't trade with him", and that's because we had a miscommunication (100% my fault) that ended in us not trading, and to this day, I feel horrible about it, and am actively trying to make it up to him.

My feedback is spotless because I put every ounce of effort into my trades. If trusting a few BAs enough to buy their beer before they accept a trade request makes me a bad trader, that slap a banner on my profile. Otherwise, please get the full picture before jumping to conclusions.

Yeah, I'm overly verbose, younger than almost all of you, a little bit quirky, and can get defensive quickly, but I'm still a part of this community. I'm the first one who will have your back in your defense, and the last person who will pass judgment on someone who has done no wrong.

I don't want free beer from @Skrip . Let him keep his Fou', and his beers will become trade extras if he doesn't want them. I still have a bit of time to hunt one down.

I'm washing my hands of this. I've shared my side, this isn't a bad trader thread, and no one will be gaining anything from it. The people who know me know what I'm about and know how ridiculous some of this criticism is, and I don't need to convince anyone who already has their mind made up about me. I'm in this for the beer, not the Twitter-style keyboard storms.

It's like that asshole coworker you have. You can be the nicest person in the world to them, but they will do everything in their power to tear you down, regardless of anything you do or say, because they actually enjoy it. You just have to block them out and smile.

Now, more than ever is the time to be kind and respectful to each other. Try to smile more, and drink a damn beer.

@John_M I'm not persuing anything here. I'm going to take the "L" on the trade, and everyone else can make up their own minds about the whole thing. I never wanted this to turn into a bad trader thread anyway, and I have no interest in "pressing charges". It was to get an idea of what people thought of these situations in general, and I've pretty much learned... Nothing! Except don't trust anyone, and make sure trades are opened before beer is bought, or face the consequences. I still think this was bad trader behaviour, but like bstyle, the trader seems to prefer the "old school" free-for-all method. I've chased Fou' Foune for over 5 years, I can keep chasing it. If you need any additional info for any reason, PM me - otherwise, I think I'll quietly slip out here before this turns into a bloodbath, as I know how these guys can get. I shared the trader's name, and all the info I had, as well as my opinion and dissatisfaction with the situation, and I assume that will suffice for you. Cheers!

this right here is one of the reasons i'm feeling harassed. did you ever stop and think maybe he's just trying to get his mind off things by posting. these are mostly pipe dream trades. I didn't complete any of them nor did I get any replies, aside from a friend asking me to save the Antidoot for him for when he returns from Italy next year. at this point this is stalking. I've offered to complete the trade, idk what else you're looking for here. if this continues I will be reporting you. have a nice day.

It got taken down because it wasn't allowed. In a time like this people barter, humans have been doing it for centuries, I've been making it at work so i figured maybe some people value that more than their local beers, Iv'e also been giving bottles away in any trades i have done.

Nice to see your stalking me on BA, i love you too

So even though you’re not able to trade you are still looking to trade but only if you get a massive win?

I guess it was kismet that you two were to meet.

not at all, it would be explained that this was for the future. I was assuming if I did get a reply it would probably be international which is difficult right now anyway.

You should have never opened this thread, like the rest of us grown adults when we fail to get to the point of locking down a trade. On to the next, live and let live, bygones be bygones, and move the fuck on.

Yes and I stand by it after hearing both your and @Skrip 's explanation. You both admit you did not have a trade set up in the feedback system, nor did you exchange addresses/arrange IP delivery. 2 key steps missed to finalize a trade. Then after negotiations and never arriving to a final deal along with some personal issues for one of the traders it seems the deal was called off. You saw the deal as a done deal because you were getting a bucket list bottle for something you did not value (even called it wasted money in another post since deleted). This could have also played into @Skrip 's decision to not finalize the deal. Then you wrote a passive aggressive poll and a dissertation post that even foxnews would be proud of the slant placed on it. Ultimately what was your goal of your initial post? To drum up pity that you had an "unagreed upon" "agreed upon" trade for a "bucket list" bottle that you are no longer going to get? To put someone on blast to revive a deal that had gone bad in their mind to get what you want?

You often say you worded something incorrectly or didn't mean it how you said it. Try proofing what you write or looking at things from your audience's point of view. If you apply this to trading I think you will be more successful. A successful trade is one where both sides feel like they are winning. In some long standing BIF groups "winning a trade" is sending the side of the trade that blows the other party away.

Just some food for thought take it or leave it.

Most of us probably assume if you are trading for lambic, you can afford to buy a bottle or 2 of something and not be broke after. I have gone to releases and bought a bottle or 2 extra hoping to trade them.

You are in the wrong hobby if you can’t afford this risk. If the bottles are worth the trade, then someone else will do the same trade (Most likely).

If $50 makes you question your financial situation, go back to drinking local stuff and shelfies.

At the very least man, this does come across a little sketchy. If you read any of the the BT threads (not saying you are one), the classic move is get something done, then post other stuff to try to get a better trade.

hope you are doing better in working through your issues. Stay safe out there

Am I missing something though? Fou is not listed FT in any of those postings and that is the bottle that was supposedly FT here... although both parties admit a trade was never finalized.

as someone living in NJ also, it’s a crazy and scary time. My girlfriend is a nurse and is very careful about what we bring into the house. His situation may be even worse than mine. I know lambic boxes are not being shipped right now. He could have had a etre/biab box with fou coming and doesn’t know when it will be here now.

it seems that he was saying it’s an unknown amount of time until things will be normal again.

I don’t love that he asked for a specific bottle but these are unprecedented times and beer is not the most important thing by far.

I think his argument was that he was saying no boxes in to his house while still trading. Not the best look but makes sense if he is trying to lock down stuff for the future internationally. He just knows he can’t do the Fou trade right now.

@Skrip the only thing I’m still questioning here that no ones addressed, and I don’t think you have either....you do have, and have given feedback on trades as recently as this past weekend. I find it hard to believe that this is a trade that happened awhile ago and you both are just now leaving feedback...same thing happened end of March?

if your not accepting boxes right now for whatever reason (I’m guessing this pandemic but then why not just say that), then why two recent trades with feedback? If this is your excuse as to backing out of a verbal trade agreement...then am I missing something...please explain?

    Honestly, I don't see how that's anyone's business.

This is exactly the kind of crap that Skrip rightfully protested about early on. Not only is it harassment on the OP's part, but he is recruiting others to join in and amplify this harassment by the myriad suggestions he's raised. And worse, he's even guilted others, including the person he is falsely accusing of backing out, into giving him more for nothing. The sort of charity he has heavily endorsed in past trading threads, particularly when it is to his benefit.
