So I think I've started to borderline horde beer.

I have 29 bottles of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. Today I had the opportunity to purchase an additional case. I was this close to purchasing it and still may do so in the next week. Another case would put me over 50 bottles.

My question is, is it possible to have to much of a beer? Am I buying to drink them or just to have them?

My question is, how can you drink them, if you don't have them? So you have a little more than a case of 1 kind of beer, and you're asking yourself if it is borderline hoarding? If that's borderline, I'm certifiable...Well, there it is.

It depends. Are you drinking two bottles of it a week, every week? If you enjoy the beer that much, then you're fine.

Are you averaging one bottle every month or two? Then 50+ bottles is getting a little ridiculous...

Do you drink GI BCBS on the reg? The answer to this is the answer to your Q.

I don't consider a couple of cases of a beer that should last 6 years to be excessive. But I can definitely relate to having mixed feelings about purchasing beer faster that I'm capable of drinking it.

I guess my issue is that any store that I walk into store that has BCBS, I will automatically get some. I failed to mention that my basement has a case of Heady Topper, 15 bottles of Hel & Verdomenis, 12 bottles of Backwoods, and others...

My fear is that I amass this collection of beers and never drink them down.

if you drink it often or trade it is worth it, I have sent some good stuff for bcbs.

I suppose I can collect all the BCBS I can find now for trade, in the event I get shut out of KBS this spring.

Are you into trading? If so, you have lots of great trade bait, if not, you're sitting on a gold mine. Some beers aren't worth hoarding if you can't consume them but this is one that will keep for a "few years" and it would be interesting over a few years to do a vertical tasting. I have a good friend who does the same thing with beers like this to trade away for fresh IPA's. Drink 'em or trade 'em, consider yourself lucky to accumulate that many bottles of this beer, you can't go wrong either way.

If it wasn't $23.99 a four pack, I wouldn't have even started this discussion.

I don't know about the BCBS, but I'd get that Heady Topper in a fridge and start working through it ASAP.

If you're going to drink, trade or share it, and can afford it without going into debt, I see no problem. If you're just buying it for the sake of it, I'd say branch out and get some variation in your hoard:wink:

Then it is just a matter of whether you can buy it without negatively affecting the way you or anyone dependent on you lives. Pretty simple, really.
