I would argue this is all irresponsible simply because at some point you have to stop to use a bathroom and/or get gas. Right now many places are requiring you to wear a mask for both.

If you're coming from out of state and have to get out of your car, that's irresponsible right now. Unless i'ts a necessary trip, and let's face it, Tree House IS NOT a necessary trip.

Probably a poor choice of words.

    Expanded would be better.

But what I meant is that they started brewing New England IPAs, and also started the Voll Projekt (not just for IPAs, but for other awesome styles like an Oktoberfest).

Tod was on the forefront of the barrel thing many years ago. I'd love to see him expand that with some subtle options like saisons w/ wine barrels, etc. I think he does well with balance and nuance.

And all it takes is one idiot/conspiracy theorist/jackass who doesn't believe that they are the (or there even is a) problem and refuses to wear a mask or wash their hands. Lots of good beer, folks. That stimulus check and time off isn't the excuse to day trip it for a case of beer.

It also comes down to what is considered success, which I think you are getting at. Some define success as exponential growth and others define it as being happy with what you do and being able to stay in business with a small level of success.

The phenomenon of KtG did come with some baggage, you can only change the recipe so much otherwise there's a bit of backlash. I think he has a lot more freedom with MtL to do what he wants and experiment. It's popular enough to sell out but not so popular that if he makes a batch people don't love that it's going be a big story.

On a side note with Definitive planning to open a taproom in Kittery that might give people more of a reason to check out Tributary. One of the main reasons I don't go up there is its a bit of a hike and there isn't anything else really bringing me up there. I'd love to see that area grow into a bigger brewing scene. Kittery is about 40 minutes closer for me than Portland but I go to Portland because there's so many places to visit there. If we could get Oxbow to open a Kittery location then I would probably spend a lot of time there.

Yup, I and probably 99% of us here are good citizens and take precautions, but I also don't care to take my chances of stopping during a trip and running into "don't tread on me/this virus is a hoax" guy who spittles on my shirt and makes me contagious until I get home to drink bleach bleach my clothes.

And if we're talking Maine, there are ALOT of those types.

That’s kind of a rough comment. The reason why my county has the most cases in NH is not from Mainer’s driving down...

    I wouldn't way
I wouldn't say there's no reason to drive up.
When I've been going, we'll hit Tributary, then have lunch somewhere in the area - When Pigs Fly is good, Anju Ramen is excellent, both only a few minutes drive.
We'll often hit another brewery or 2 (or 4...that wasn't a smart move...:grimacing: ) on the way back. SoMe, Stoneface, one of the dozen or so in the area of Portsmouth. or any on the way back south through Massachusetts.

Didn’t mean that Maine was infecting people with the virus, was talking about the Don’t Tread on Me/the virus is a hoax aspect.

    That is fair.

However, the article did say 150 people showed up which is like 90% of Maine's population.

    Kidding.

Was easily able to purchase two bottles at 10:00. I was #47. I chose the “save my bottles for future pickup” option. At 2,000 bottles, two per person, that’s 1,000 distinct orders, but only 400 available for later pick up. That’s only 200 people total for later pickup. I bet these will get grabbed up quick if they aren’t already gone.

To those who don’t think Kittery has much to offer, I disagree. No, it’s not Portland, but there are at least 3 excellent restaurants, a great bakery, and a couple of other great food and beverage markets. And I’m not even counting When Pigs Fly, which is great too. You can can have a great afternoon/evening in Kittery without going anywhere near the outlets.

Black Birch is about a 10 minute walk away and a great reason to visit. Not to mention the bars on that little strip have some great Maine beers on tap you can’t get in MA.

I got mine about 10:30 or so - I don't know what number I was.
A friend of mine tected me about noon that he was able to reserve as well.
It would be interesting to see where they are at this point.
The past couple releases they've had a few bottles left the next day.
I wonder if the sales went faster this way versus the usual.

Agreed! That Kittery/Portsmouth area is awesome right now.

And truthfully, I was only talking about Kittery itself. But sure, if you throw in Portsmouth, you have lots more to chose from.

Random question: are you also... 47? Cause mine flashed 38 when I ordered, and well, you know.

Ahh...errr...yes. I hadn’t even considered that. I am indeed 47. And apparently I am dumber than I thought too.
